10 Non-Park Activities to do at Walt Disney World 1

Did you know that you can have fun at Walt Disney World without going into the theme parks? The Walt Disney World Resort is full of so many non-park activities for guests to enjoy! Some of these activities may not be available or may be limited during the pandemic, but add them to your bucket list for when things return to normal.

Ride the Monorail

You don’t need a park ticket in order to ride the resort monorail. There are some great views of the Magic Kingdom and its resorts as you go around the Seven Seas Lagoon. This is a great way to relax and take in some beautiful sights.

Watch the Electrical Water Pageant

This nightly light parade usually starts around 9 PM and makes the rounds to all of the resorts on Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake and the Magic Kingdom docks. You don’t have to be a guest at the resorts to stop by and watch the pageant. The pageant is temporarily unavailable during the initial reopening of Disney World.

Watch a Movie under the Stars

Most of the Disney resorts show movies (Disney of course) outside near the pool on certain nights of the week. Ask for the schedule when you check-in or just go with the flow and show up and be surprised! Some resorts will have a little campfire with marshmallows to roast beforehand. During Disney’s phased reopening, campfires are temporarily unavailable.

Play Mini-Golf

Walt Disney World Resort has two mini-golf complexes on property. I’d suggest checking them out earlier in the day, especially during the hotter months. It is Florida after all!

Rent a Surrey Bike

Want to try something you probably don’t do every day? Rent a surrey bike from a resort hotel and take a ride! They’re available at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn, Disney’s Old Key West Resort, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – Riverside, and Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort. These bikes are harder to peddle than they look so beware!

Take a Tour

While most Walt Disney World tours take place in the theme parks and require admission there are a few that don’t. Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge and the Campsites at Fort Wilderness are just two resort hotels that offer tours.

Fishing

Fishing at Disney World? Yep! A guide will take you and a small group out on a pontoon boat for a morning (or afternoon) of fishing. This seems to be most popular on Bay Lake (Magic Kingdom area) but Crescent Lake (Epcot area) also has some options.
