For many of us, Disney World is so much more than just a theme park, it’s a nostalgic and deep connection. It’s a place where we can relive some of our best memories and create new ones. I’ve really loved visiting Disney throughout the seasons of my life, and I love revisiting my favorite classic attractions every time! While Disney is known for always changing and creating new experiences and attractions, there are a few that have withstood the test of time and remained throughout the years. In honor of Walt Disney World Resort’s Magic Kingdom Park recently celebrating its 49th birthday, let’s take a look at some of the very first Disney World attractions that have been around since opening day and can still be enjoyed today!
  • The Country Bear Jamboree Everyone’s favorite country music playing bears was an original attraction. While the attraction is no longer at Disneyland Resort, guests can still see the performance at Walt Disney World.
  • Dumbo the Flying Elephant- One of the most iconic attractions in the Magic Kingdom, enjoyed by children and adults, is still one of the main attractions!

  • The Hall of Presidents- Everyone’s favorite attraction to cool off or grab a quick nap, The Hall of Presidents brings all of our country’s past leaders to life using realistic animatronics. Walt Disney was an avid patriot and would be so proud of this attraction.
  • Mad Tea Party- Another iconic Disney attraction, The Mad Tea Party, features spinning teacups that take guests on a wild ride!
  • It’s a Small World- Did you really even visit Disney World if you didn’t see the singing dolls on It’s a Small World? This attraction is definitely a must-do for me, even though that song will be stuck in my head for hours!
  • The Haunted Mansion- My personal favorite! The Haunted Mansion is definitely a timeless classic. It’s hard to believe that the technology that this attraction utilizes has been around for so long! Haunted Mansion FastPass Sign
  • Jungle Cruise- Also known as the “Jingle Cruise” during the holidays, this attraction is still very popular today. Let’s be honest, we love the Captain’s jokes no matter how many times we hear them!
  • Prince Charming Regal Carrousel- Everything at Disney is more magical, even the carrousel! This beautiful carrousel is fit for royalty. It is even rumored that Cinderella herself has a special horse on the carrousel!
  • Tomorrowland Speedway- For decades, the Tomorrowland Speedway has given children a chance to drive their very own car on a fun and scenic track. This attraction is still found in Tomorrowland.
  • Swiss Family Adventures Treehouse- This walkthrough attraction is a massive treehouse based on the movie Swiss Family Robinson. Amazing views of the Magic Kingdom can be enjoyed from the top! You will get in a good work out if you choose to experience this attraction, 116 stairs must be climbed to reach the top- but the view is worth it!

  • Peter Pan’s Flight- This attraction remains one of the most popular attractions at the Magic Kingdom to this day! Guests fly on magical pirate ships through scenes of this classic Disney movie.
  • The Enchanted Tiki Room- Once you visit the Enchanted Tiki Room you’ll be singing the theme song all day! This attraction is a musical show featuring animatronic birds and plants.
  • Walt Disney World Railroad- Hop aboard Disney World’s authentic steam locomotive for a fun and relaxing 20-minute ride! The Walt Disney World Railroad is definitely a classic park attraction.

It is absolutely amazing to think that these attractions we enjoy so much today have been around for 49 years! My mind is still blown by the animatronics in The Hall of Presidents and the special effects featured while riding the Haunted Mansion. So many of these attractions are absolute must-dos every time I visit Disney World! While the new attractions are exciting, I really feel the Disney magic when experiencing some of these classics!
