A Solo Trip to Disneyland - Pros and Cons 1

There may come a time where you are ready for a trip to Disney but no one else is. You may be around Anaheim for work, visiting friends based in LA or simply a local wondering what to do on your day off. Going by yourself may not be a second thought for some, but to those who may be used to visiting the Happiest Place on Earth with friends or families, visiting the parks on their own may be a little daunting. Check out some Pros and Cons about heading to the park solo!

Cons – (Let’s start with the cons so we can end on a good note!)

  1. Initial Costs
    • With fewer people to go with, that means you’re fronting the bill to get there. This may not be so bad if you live nearby or staying with friends, but if you plan on booking a local or Disney Hotel, costs can go up. If you are staying at a nearby hotel or Airbnb without transportation, consider taxi or rideshare costs in your budget as well.
  2. Magic for 1
    • Now, this is not to say the day will not be enjoyable. You will have fun. It will be hard not to. There are great cast members to interact with and plenty to see and do. There is something about sharing this experience with someone. If you find yourself wishing you had someone with you, find a cast member and ask for recommendations for your solo day. They will give you some great advice and it might be just the interaction you need to check out some new/different things to do around the park.

Pros

  1. Guilt-Free Dining
    • Tripping with someone else may mean that you limit yourself to eat when they do. If that’s the case, when you head to your favorite snackeries, bakeries, and restaurants, grab whatever your heart desires… whenever your heart desires it!
  2. Single Rider Coming Through
  3. Disneyland on YOUR Terms
    • Ever felt like you couldn’t do what you truly wanted on your Disney trips? Going solo means checking out what is most important to you! If you have a classic ride that may not have been a group favorite, take the opportunity of going solo to check it out. If you normally go with kids and take the slower rides – find the fast ones and have a blast!
  4. Crowd Dodger
    • To those who hate navigating their way through a crowd with a large group, being on your own means having the freedom to move about the crowds easier than when you’re keeping track of your people!
  5. One Fastpass Please!
    • Finding a Fastpass for one person is a lot easier than finding them for two or more. You’ll have more attraction options to hop on and off of when you ride alone.

There are plenty more pros to choose from, but the final and most important Pro is that YOU’RE AT DISNEYLAND. Whilst the people you normally would have gone with are doing what they would like, you are doing what makes you happy. You can make more than enough magic on your own. You can have great experiences, eat great food and do some amazing shopping – all while doing it solo. If you still find yourself nervous or apprehensive, do what feels best for you. A trip to Disneyland should be as enjoyable as you can make it.

If you are currently debating a trip to Disneyland and California Adventure on your own, have fun, be safe and have the best day ever!
