Can I Trade in My Quick Service Meal Credits For Extra Snacks on the Disney Dining Plan? 1Snack Credits

Q: I’m on the Disney Dining Plan and have left over Quick Service Dining Credits.  Can I exchange these for snacks rather than having to get a whole meal?

A: If you’ve been on the Disney Dining Plan before you know it’s all about maximizing those meal credits to get the most bang for your buck and really make the plans worth while.  Whether you’re on the regular Disney Dining Plan or the Quick Service Dining Plan, chances are you’ll near the end of your stay and find that you have a Quick Service Meal Credit or two left over.  But don’t worry.  This doesn’t mean that you have to gorge yourself to the point of illness at Columbia Harbour House on your last day to use up your meals.  Disney actually has a system that may work to your advantage.

If you have left over Disney Quick Service Dining Credits, you can actually use them to buy 3 Snacks per credit.  So feel free to have a few extra dole whips on your last day or sneak in an ice cream bar or two.  The only stipulations are that the Snacks must be eligible for purchase under the dining plan (they’ll have the purple dining plan logo next to them on the pricing or menu) and all 3 must be purchased at the same time.  So you can’t split it up into 3 snack credits that can be used throughout the day.  You need to get them in one go.

Snack credits can not only be used on all of those yummy Mickey Pretzels and Ice Cream Sandwiches you get at the parks but also on non-perishable items as well. The gift shops at each of the Walt Disney World resorts will carry take-home items like lollipops, popcorn, Goofy Candy Company treats Mickey Rice Krispie Bars and other sweet and savory snacks that you can pack in your suitcase or carry-on and take home with you.  I never let a snack credit go to waste and always employ this strategy to pick out little items for dog walkers, friends, house-sitters etc.  It’s also great to surprise your kids.  When your Disney vacation seems like a distant memory and you find your family reminiscing, pull out a bag of these take home treats as a much-needed Disney pick-me-up.

Does that mean I can combine Quick Service Credits for a Table Service Meal? Sadly not.  Disney does have restrictions on how credits can be used and this is not one of them.   You can downgrade to Snacks but you can’t upgrade to Character Dining.

I’ve tried exchanging my Quick Service Meals for Snack Credits and was told I couldn’t.  Why is this? I’ve always been able to exchange these no problem but I have had friends and clients tell me that they’ve run into difficulties when trying to make the swap.  Sadly, sometimes it’s simply luck of the draw when it comes to Cast Members.  If at first you don’t succeed I would try someone else.  For the most part its a widely regarded policy and you should be able to do it.
