The FastPass+ system is one of the best ways to ensure a great Walt Disney World vacation! By making sure you have all of your FastPass+ selections in order and ready to go, you’re already a step ahead! This system allows you to wait a minimal amount of time for high volume attractions. While planning your trip, there can be a bit of a learning curve when it comes to this system. No need to worry, because we have the top Do’s and Don’ts when it comes to using this system.

6 FastPass+ Dos and Don'ts for Walt Disney World

1. DO: Plan Out Your Trip Before Booking – While preparing to make your FastPass+ selections it’s important to get familiar with the layout of the park you will be visiting. This will help you and your travel group from making the mistake of selections at opposite ends of the park.  We recommend checking out your My Disney Experience App for a full map of each park and where certain attractions are located. This will help especially during those hot Florida temperatures, because you don’t want to be rushing back and forth between lands at the parks. Trust us, your feet will thank you!

2.DO: Pay Attention to Your Booking Window – While planning a Walt Disney World vacation, you will definitely want to know when you can start making those important FastPass+ selections for your trip.  One of the most important dates that goes into planning your Disney vacation is your FastPasses booking window. Guests staying at an official Walt Disney World Resort can begin booking FastPasses 60 days prior to your trip. Your booking window will become available at 7 A.M. EST.  Those staying offsite have only 30 days to make those early selections. We would not sleep on these opportunities! Especially if you are looking forward to specific hot attractions, such as: Smuggler’s Run (Disney’s Hollywood Studios) or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train (Magic Kingdom).

3. DO: Book FastPasses for the Most Popular Attractions First –  The My Disney Experience App doesn’t require guest to book selections in chronological order. With that being said, we highly recommend on booking the FastPass+ you or your group is most excited for. Make getting a FastPass+ for a highly anticipated attractions a priority. We also recommend taking into account which attractions are the newest, as they will be highly populated and are most likely at the top of your lists anyway.

4. DON’T: Be Concerned With Booking FastPasses for Children Under the Age of 3 – It’s just not necessary. Due to the fact that children under the age of 3 don’t need a park admission ticket, the same goes for individual FastPasses for them. Through the My Disney Experience App, if you attempt to make a FastPass+ selection for your small child (1-2 years of age), you will receive and error message.

5. DON’T: Try to Book FastPasses at More Than 1 Park Per Day – This is a common first-time Disney planner’s mistake. The current FastPass+ system does not allow you to park hop with your first 3 FastPasses. So, your first three will have to be for the same park. If you’re planning to park hop, we recommend using your reservations for the second park you visit.

6. DON’T: Waste your Fastpass+ on Stand-by Lines that are Reasonable – If you have a booking for an attraction and then you realize upon arrival that the wait is pretty reasonable, do not use your FastPass for that attraction. It’s not necessary and the FastPass+ system works best when you’re using it for rides with lengthy wait times.  If an attraction that you have a selection for doesn’t have a long wait time, then change your selection to something with a longer line. You can make changes to an existing selection right up until your booking window is about to expire. After that, you will lost that reservation. Make sure to check your My Disney Experience App for wait times, changing your selection, and other information.
