Upcoming Changes Coming to the Walt Disney World Resort Upon Reopening 1

The phased reopening of Walt Disney World Resort begins June 22 with select resort hotels opening. The theme parks will then reopen on July 11 and July 15. The resorts and parks won’t be the same as they were before the COVID-19 closure. Let’s go over some changes that guests will see when they return to Disney World.

Health & Safety Measures

  • All Guests ages 2 and older—along with all Cast Members—will be required to wear face coverings.
  • Temperature screenings are required at Disney Springs and Walt Disney World theme parks

Theme Parks & Experiences

  • Magic Kingdom & Disney’s Animal Kingdom reopen July 11
  • Epcot & Disney’s Hollywood Studios reopen July 15
  • Disney Springs is currently in a phased re-opening with many shopping and dining locations open

Resorts opening June 22nd:

  • Bay Lake Tower at Disney’s Contemporary Resort
  • Boulder Ridge Villas at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
  • Copper Creek Villas & Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
  • Disney’s Animal Kingdom Villas – Kidani Village
  • Disney’s Beach Club Villas
  • Disney’s BoardWalk Villas
  • Disney’s Old Key West Resort
  • Disney’s Polynesian Villas & Bungalows
  • Disney’s Riviera Resort
  • Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort
  • The Villas at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort
  • Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

Dining

  • Face coverings for each Guest age 2 and up, which must be worn in all public areas—including while entering and exiting dining locations—and can be removed while eating or drinking
  • A confirmed dining reservation is required for day Guests at Disney Resort hotels (those not staying overnight) and is highly recommended for Guests staying overnight at a Disney Resort hotel
  • Cashless or contactless forms of payment are highly recommended
  • Character Dining and Dinner Shows will not be offered

Transportation

  • Resort transportation around property will be available in limited capacity to allow for physical distancing.
  • If you are arriving via Orlando International Airport, you may still take advantage of Disney’s Magical Express Service.
  • Minnie Van Service will not be available during the initial reopening period.
  • Self-parking at hotels will be available. Valet service is temporarily unavailable, with the exception of Guests with disabilities who may require parking assistance. A valid disability parking permit is required. Parking fees apply for Disney Resort hotel Guests.
