Question: If you could eat at any Disney Restaurants on your next trip, where would you go?
Answer: I have experienced many Disney Restaurants, and had some great meals. Our favorites have been Ohana, Crystal Palace, Coral Reef, Be Our Guest Lunch, 1900 Park Fare, Tusker House, Mama Melrose, and Sci-Fi. I like to eat mostly vegetarian dishes so I’m not into big, steak dinners or surf’n’turf. These aren’t the best Disney restaurants or the most popular, but they look awesome to me! Here is my personal bucket list for Disney dining experiences, and what I’d order from them:
Chef Mickeys- I hear people rave about this character meal all the time! I didn’t know it even existed for a while, as we always ate inside the Parks. I love the classic characters and the Contemporary Resort, so this sounds like a great time! This is a breakfast or a dinner buffet, but the Vegetable Quiche sounds good,and the Curry Chipotle Chicken with a Coconut Mojito for dinner.
Victoria and Alberts– This is probably on everyone’s Disney dining bucket list. This is a black tie, 5-Diamond restaurant. There are only three 5-Diamond restaurants in all of Florida! Now, this isn’t really my style, but it’d be lovely for an anniversary or birthday dinner here with my husband. Menus are made up daily based on the ingredients that are available. This is a full 6 course meal!
Jiko, the Cooking Place-“Vibrant spices, crackling wood-burning ovens and boutique South African wines transport you to the heart of Africa” says the Disney website. Located in the Animal Kingdom Lodge, this restaurant is one of those one-of-a-kind places I won’t be able to find here in Pennsylvania! Harrisa Chicken, Roasted Vegetables, Cinnamon Couscous, and Saffron Broth sounds delicious! For dessert I would order Ghanaian Chocolate and Kenyan Coffee! mMmm!
Cinderella’s Royal Table (CRT)- It’s crazy to think that as big of Princess enthusiasts as my daughter Jasmine and I are, we haven’t done CRT! The kids don’t even KNOW that you can eat inside the Castle! Jasmine’s going to flip when she finds out… can’t wait! Doesn’t Caramel Apple Stuffed French Toast sound yummy? For lunch I would order Seasonal Gnocchi with Roasted vegetables as I love pumpkin and goat cheese.
Palo (Disney Magic Cruise Ship)- Highlights include 270-degree ocean views from every seat, an open kitchen so you can watch your chefs in action, Venetian glass and inlaid wood paneling. Adults only! Woot woot! I will be taking advantage of the Ship’s Kids Clubs for this one, while I order Penne Arrabbiata with spicy fresh Tomato and Basil Sauce, topped with Grilled Shrimp paired with a glass of Planeta Chardonnay ‘08. Bon Apetit!
Yak and Yeti- The name just sounds fun! Located in the Animal Kingdom, it has Indian and Asian style offerings, and it’s right near the Expedition Everest rollercoaster! I want to try the Yak Attack, a refreshing mango-berry daiquiri! This restaurant offers many vegetarian entrees as well (score!) Sweet-and-Sour Chicken is one of my faves, and my kids would definitely order the Vegetable Lo-Mein!
Be Our Guest *Dinner Service*- We have done the Be Our Guest lunch service at Magic Kingdom. I love the ambience and the scenery in the 3 dining rooms. The main ballroom is beautiful and JUST like the movie! The windows frost as the snow falls slowly outside. The rose room is gorgeously romantic with the rotating statue of Belle and Beast. I am pumped to eat in the West Wing though! It is so cool in there!! The pictures and food reviews of the Layered Ratatouille make my hungry! I would definitely order that at dinner.
Teppan Edo- This is a “hibachi” style restaurant where the Japanese chefs prepare the food in front of you on a large flat top grill. Select from steak, chicken, seafood and vegetable entrées, which are served with Udon noodles and steamed rice. You can also enjoy such favorites as Teriyaki chicken, potato-vegetable croquettes, tempura and edamame. I love ANYTHING Teriyaki! Find Teppan Edo in the Japan Pavillion of Epcot.
San Angel Inn- This is truly a hidden gem of Epcot’s Mexican Pavillion. On our way to get onto the Three Cabellero’s Boat Ride (Inside the huge Mayan/Aztec Pyramid) I found San Angel Inn. Tucked below the Mexican Marketplace in the back of the pyramid, this dark, quiet and romantic restaurant sits in the far back. The boat riders pass by on the “river” below. The candlelit ambience is so beautiful! The menu looks delicious, even the appetizers!
Biergarten– Bavarian Cheesecake, Apple Strudel, Oh my! Located in the Germany Pavilion, this pick is an ode to my German heritage! During the Epcot Food & Wine fest, we tried some German Caramel from Werther’s, and some Schinkennudeln (Ham & Potatoes) and it was sooo good! This is a rotating buffet with lively entertainment. I would try the Spatzel which are hand rolled pasta balls, and the potato salad! German Beer Flight sounds like a good option too! (Radeberger Pilsner, Altenmünster Oktoberfest, Schöfferhofer Weizen, and Hövels)
Restaurant Marrakesh (For my Husband, this is his Bucket List locale) We stood in the doorway and watched the Moroccan Belly dancers during the Epcot Food & Wine Fest. It looked so authentic in there, and exciting! A must-do next trip!
