What Items are Not Allowed at Walt Disney World

Like any other theme park, even though we know Walt Disney World ranks higher, there are still items that are allowed or not allowed inside the Walt Disney World parks.  In order to help with the frequent question, “What can I bring into Walt Disney World”, we have compiled the list all in one convenient spot for you!

As of May 1, 2019, Disney has updated their policies for specific items, which may have an impact on your trip.

The following items are prohibited at both Walt Disney World (and Disneyland):

Outside Food

We recently wrote an article highlighting outside food.  While outside food IS permitted inside the parks, large hard-plastic coolers are not permitted.  In addition, loose ice inside of the coolers is also not permitted.  All ice must be inside a sealed baggie.

Strollers/Wagons

This is fairly new and has caused quite a bit of confusion for some.  The following strollers are NOT permitted in the Disney parks:

  • Strollers larger than 31″ (79 cm) wide and 52″ (132 cm) long
  • Stroller wagons (such as the Keenz wagons)
  • Anything that you can pull behind you. This includes wagons and coolers.

Smoking

  • Smoking is NOT permitted inside of any of the parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and the Animal Kingdom), water parks (Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon), ESPN Wide World of Sports, or Disney Springs.  Disney has created smoking areas outside the entrances, please ask a Cast Member for the exact locations.

Chairs/ Motorized Vehicles

  • Folding chairs. Rollators are allowed but you can’t bring folding chairs with you to use while you wait in line or for shows, etc.
  • Segways or any sort of mobility device that doesn’t have at least 3 wheels
  • Drones, skateboards, scooters, skates, and Heelys (or any shoes with built-in wheels)

Clothing

  • Any clothes with objectionable or obscene language or graphics
  • Any clothes that reveal more skin than what is considered appropriate for a “family environment”

Costumes

Animal Kingdom

  • Straws (paper straws are allowed)
  • Balloons

Miscellaneous Items

  • Alcohol, marijuana, and illegal drugs
  • Selfie Sticks
  • Weapons of any kind as well as any toy weapons that could easily be mistaken for the real thing
  • Tripods larger than what can fit inside of your backpack

Enjoy your vacation!
