For those visitors looking to do something off-the-beaten-path during your next Walt Disney World vacation, why not consider one of Disney’s amazing guided tours. With a broad range of options available there’s something for families, adults, newbies and aficionados. There’s also tours that cover a wide range of topics from zoology, horticulture, steam trains, and most importantly the history and behind-the-scene secrets of these four beloved theme parks. To give you a taste of what’s on offer, here are 5 of our Favorite tours at Walt Disney World.
Best Tour for Families With Small Children – Disney’s Family Magic Tour- This scavenger hunt is our opinion one of Disney’s hidden gems. Best suited for children between the ages of 4 and 10 (with an accompanying adult) participants will have the opportunity to indulge in 2 fun-filled hours of racing around the Magic Kingdom, solving riddles and searching for clues that will lead them through each of the lands, onto an attraction or two and even to meet so of their favorite Disney friends. The tour departs from Town Square Theater. At $39.00 per adult, it is one of the most affordable tours on offer and with a start time of 10am is a delightful way to spend a Magic Kingdom morning.
Best Tour for a Date Night – Savor the Savanna: Evening Safari Experience- A relatively new offering, this tour remains slightly under the radar but is perfect for those looking for a non-traditional night out with some good food, good drinks and a wild animal or two thrown in for good measure. This Animal Kingdom tour runs at least twice an evening around 4:30pm and 5:30 pm (a third tour is sometimes offered during peak season) and starts off with a private safari. Guests are guided through the Harmabe Wildlife reserve where you can see an array of animals while the park slowly start to come to life with the new evening lighting. Then visitors will be escorted to a private reception area with savanna views where they can have an intimate meal with African-inspired tapas as well as wines and beers. The cost of this evening indulgence is $169.00 per person and is open to anyone ages 8 and up. Guests under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Valid ID is required to be served alcohol on this tour. The tour departs from Harambe Marketplace.
Best Tour for the Christmas Season- Disney’s Holiday D-Lights: With the holidays just around the corner, many families are looking for ways to add a bit of extra magic to their destination Christmas at Disney. There is no better way to see all of the ways that Disney comes to life each holiday season than through this 5-hour celebration of all-things Christmas. Guests will travel throughout Walt Disney World resort to take in special seasonal offerings like Epcot’s Candlelight Processional, Magic Kingdom’s the Jingle Cruise and the amazing gingerbread creations found at many of Walt Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts. In addition guests will get to meet the team responsible for the spectacular decorations you see throughout the Disney parks and find out about steps they take to transform Disney into a Winter Wonderland. The tour is open to guests age 12 and older and runs on select evenings starting at 4:00pm. Guests join the tour at the Main Entrance at Epcot and the cost is $259.00 per person.
Best Tour for Culture Buffs – World Showcase: DestiNations Discovered: Have you ever found yourself rushing around the World Showcase and wishing you had time to really soak in all of the details of each country? With the 5-hour DestiNations Discovered Tour you’ll have an opportunity to go behind the scenes at several of Epcot’s pavilions, get to explore some lesser known areas of each country and can even indulge in a deligthful Pub Lunch at the United Kingdom’s Rose and Crown Dining Room. You’ll be able to enjoy all the rich details, the history and backstory of each of the 11 themed-pavilions that make up the World Showcase and are bound to be an Epcot expert by the time you finish. Because of the length of the tour, guests must be 16 or older. The cost is $109.00 per person with lunch included and tours depart at 8:15am from Fountain View in Future World.
Best Tour For Those Who Want to See the Utilidor- Disney’s Key’s to the Kingdom Tour: It has almost become an Urban Legend, the idea that there is a hidden level beneath Walt Disney World that serves as a way for Cast Members to make there way through the park undetected. If you’ve always wondered what this level known as the “Utilidor” looks like then this tour will let you in on this, as well as a few other Magic Kingdom secrets. Guests will be taught some surprises about a few of Disney’s much loved attractions (also perfect for Haunted Mansion lovers), will get to venture into areas of the park only open to cast members and can enjoy a lunch at Disney’s Columbia Harbour House during this 5-hour adventure. Because of the length of the tour, guests must be aged 16 or older. There are several tours that depart from Town Square Theater each morning between 8:00am – 9:30 am.
