5 Disneyland Lightning Lane Attractions Closing for Refurbishment
Next month, 5 Disneyland Lightning Lane attractions will be closing for refurbishment. 4 other attractions will also close in January for refurbishment. If you plan to visit the Disneyland Resort in January, there won’t be as many Lightning Lane attractions available. You might want to reconsider purchasing Disney Genie+.

January is known for many annual ride closures at the Disneyland Resort. Radiator Springs Racers, Grizzly River Run, Mickey’s Philharmagic and Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind at Disney California Adventure and Indiana Jones Adventure, Haunted Mansion, It’s a Small World, Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln and the Disney Gallery at Disneyland will all close at some point in January for refurbishment. Take a look at the closure dates:
- Indiana Jones Adventure: January 9-TBD (the refurbishment will be more comprehensive and could last up to 6 months)
- Radiator Springs Racers: January 17-23
- Grizzly River Run: January 9-TBD (the Disneyland website says the ride will be down through the spring)
- Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln & Disney Gallery: January 9-25 (A Disney100 exhibit is expected to occupy Disney Gallery when it reopens)
- Mickey’s Philharmagic: January 24-TBD
- it’s a small world: January 9-19 (the ride will change back from it’s a small world holiday)
- Haunted Mansion: January 30-TBD (this ride will also be changing back from its holiday version: Haunted Mansion Holiday)
- Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind: January 30-TBD
5 of those attractions offer Lightning Lane through Disney Genie+. Disney Genie+ gives guests access to Lightning Lane along with all PhotoPass photos. The service starts at $25 per ticket per day. If you are planning on visiting Disneyland during these ride closures, you might want to reconsider if Genie+ is worth purchasing for your trip.
