The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is possibly one of the most beloved rides in Walt Disney World. On July 22nd, 1994, this ride made its debut and the rest will live in infamy! You can find the original Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World, but it has siblings at Disney California Adventure as well as Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris. A scream-inducing ride based on a beloved show from the 50’s and 60s? How could it not be a hit! But have you seen the movies and behind-the-scenes associated with the ride? Check out our list below!
- Making of the Tower of Terror (1994)
- In 1994, Disney released a TV special featuring Kirk Cameron that would highlight all the backstory and what to expect from the rides. This special no doubt was created to increase intrigue and excitement for the ride itself since it came out the same year. Check YouTube for this blast from the past.
- Tower of Terror (1997)
- Heads up! This ‘The Wonderful World of Disney’ film, for some reason, is not available on Disney+ or any streaming service. You’ll have to go the DVD route in order to watch this movie! A journalist goes into a haunted hotel to solve a decades-old disappearance. Plenty of spooks to behold – as well as a young Kirsten Dunst!
- The Imagineering Story – S1:E3 – The Midas Touch (2019)
- Whilst covering everything Imagineering related seems almost impossible, the conception of The Tower of Terror is given some brief but enlightening screentime in this episode! The main takeaway was how much of the rides pitch was sold by its Imagineers’ enthusiasm and faith in the project. Definitely, a worthwhile series to watch if you’re interested in engineering, Disney, and the dedication of what goes on behind the scenes.
- Behind the Attraction – S1:E4 – The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (2021)
- Maybe the reason for such a small highlight about the ride within The Imagineering Story was that there was a grander plan to give the ride the full attention it deserves. This episode is for the diehard Tower fans. It covers the complex engineering and the many, many voices that made it the success it is to this day!

- Now this film may still be in production but it is my duty to alert you that Thor: Ragnarok director, Taika Waititi has been signed on as well at Scarlett Johansson. Not much else is known about it but we can’t wait for it to come out!
