With Orlando Summer temperatures often in the 90’s, visitors regardless of age should take extra special precautions to keep cool in the sweltering heat! Here are 5 of our top tips when it comes to beating the heat at Walt Disney World.
Drink Plenty of Water
Not much at Disney comes for free, but a cup of ice water is absolutely FREE at any of the restaurants at Disney World! staying hydrated is extremely important while walking around in the hot Florida sun! from quick-service spots to sit-down restaurants, all will give free cups of ice water to guests! Don’t be afraid to take advantage of this freebie! Of course, guests are also welcome to bring their own water bottles or reusable jugs too!
Head to a Relaxing, Indoor Attraction
Sometimes all we need to keep cool is just a little air-conditioned break. There are so many relaxing attractions at Disney that are perfect for just this! Hall of Presidents anyone? The air conditioning feels so good and it’s a great opportunity to sit and relax. I try to plan the attractions I ride or experience based on if my traveling party could benefit from doing an indoor attraction. I’d be careful about trying back-to-back attractions with long, outdoor lines.
Take a Break and Head Back to the Resort
One great way to keep cool is to take a mid-day break and head back to your resort for some pool time! Pool time and a nice, refreshing shower can do wonders for your comfort level on a super hot day.
Wear Comfortable Clothing and Sunscreen
Nothing is much worse than a sunburn while on vacation! Make sure you bring plenty of sunscreen and reapply throughout the day as needed. Choose your park outfits wisely, and make sure your choice of attire helps you keep cool and comfortable. During the summer months the temperature stays pretty high even after sundown, so there probably won’t be a need for a sweater or jacket.
Keep Cool by Trying a Tasty Frozen Snack
Luckily, Disney just so happens to be home to TONS of delicious frozen treats! Nothing helps you beat the heat like a slushy or Dole Whip! A frozen treat in the shade can do wonders for your comfort level on a hot Florida day!
Even though it may be hot, with a little planning you and your family can remain cool and comfortable while visiting Disney in the summer months!
