It’s that time of year where Disney pulls out all of the stops to ring in Christmas and New Years. From Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and Candlelight Processional to Epcot’s Holidays Around the World, there’s no shortage of activities to keep holiday-goers immersed in the festivities. With all of these fantastic holiday trimmings also comes a delectable feast of fabulous Christmas-themed snacks and treats found throughout the theme parks. With so many amazing dishes on offer, guests will be spoiled for choice and to get you started here is a list of our top 7 favorites.
1. Gingerbread Croque Glace at Epcot’s L’artisan des Glace- Epcot. If you not experienced a Croque Glace from L’artisan you haven’t lived. The Christmas season is the perfect time to enjoy this tasty treat. A delicious scoop of gingerbread ice cream is placed in the center of a brioche bun. The top half of the bun is then put over top and the whole thing is sealed together using a press. Then end result is nothing short of exquisite. You have the warm brioche bun with a delightful cold and creamy ice cream in the center. Yes please!
2. Caramel Kiss – Prost! Holiday Marketplace -Epcot. The Epcot seasonal treat gaining the most accolades this holiday season is definitely the Caramel Kiss over at the Germany Pavilion. Guests expecting a hot chocolate with a hint of caramel will actually be blown away by what you actually receive. Think a hot toasty Werthers original in liquid form. Sound blissful? It is.
3. Holiday Ice Cream Sandwich – Plaza Ice Cream Parlor – Magic Kingdom. The homemade ice cream sandwiches at the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in my opinion should rank right up there with the Dole Whips and Turkey Legs as a Disney treat that shouldn’t be missed. What better time to give one a go than during Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. This tasty treat consists of a warm Christmas cookie straight out of the oven. Now add a heaping scoop of delicious ice cream. What’s not to love. Guests should note that these cookies are huge though so definitely bring someone along to share. They’re also a bit on the sloppy side so eating with a spoon will be your best bet.
4. Pumpkin Spice Waffle – Sleep Hollow – Magic Kingdom. Another delightful treat on offer for those attending Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is the Pumpkin Spice Waffle at Sleepy Hollow in Liberty Square. Back by popular demand this warm pumpkin waffle, with a hint of spice is topped with hand scooped vanilla ice cream and adorned with holiday sprinkles. Like the Ice Cream Sandwich the portions here are hefty so you may want to share otherwise it will eat like a meal.
5. Frozen S’mores – Seasonal Southern Delights – Holiday Marketplace – Epcot. When it comes to Christmas treats most people think about warm Christmas cookies or a nice cup of hot chocolate . But, let’s not forget that in Florida its still pretty darn hot outside. That’s why this frozen treat makes such a perfect accompaniment to your afternoon stroll around the World Showcase. This frozen drinks has a chocolate base, a hint of graham cracker and the delicious taste of toasted marshmallow. And unlike the traditional S’mores you don’t have to worry about getting your hands messy.
6. Holiday Waffle – Promenade Refreshments – Holiday Marketplace- Epcot. With all of the sweet treats listed above, let’s set our sights on something savory. For a contemporary take on the classic turkey dinner, look no further than Promenade Refreshments. Each holiday season they offer up a Savory Turkey Waffle. There is a sweet potato waffle base that is stuffed with roasted turkey and then smothered in green bean casserole making for a hearty afternoon snack. Try it and you’ll never look at Thanksgiving dinner the same way again.
7. Peppermint Bark and Gingerbread Popcorn (various locations). Take a taste of Disney and the Christmas Season home with you via one of these classic holiday goodies. Pop by Epcot’s The Sugar and Spice Shop at the American Adventure to stock up on peppermint bark. Disney gets the mix just right between the delicious homemade chocolate and the minty taste of the peppermints. It would make the perfect stocking stuffer. Or if you’re a fan of Disney’s popcorn (and you should be), be on the lookout for the seasonal Gingerbread flavor. It will have you savoring the tastes of Disney long after your park days are over. The popcorn can be found at various locations throughout the theme park but Main Street Confectionery is always a safe bet.
