9 Surprising Celebrities That Worked at The Disney Parks!

It probably comes as no surprise that some of our favorite celebrities started their careers in entertainment by working at the most magical places on earth. Whether it be Disneyland, Disney World, or Disney Parks abroad, Disney has always been a place where some of the brightest talents can be found.

From A-List Celebrities like Steve Martin, Wayne Brady, and more it is very interesting to see how many got their start working at the Disney Parks around the globe.

  1. Michelle Pfeiffer (Batman, Scarface) – Disneyland
    • A California native, in the 70s Michelle Pfieffer was also “friends with” Alice in Wonderland and performed in the Disneyland Main Street Electrical Parade!
  2. Kathryn Joosten (West Wing, Desperate Housewives) – Walt Disney World
    • In a 2009 interview with Fortune, Katheryn auditioned for a role at Hollywood Studios! “After standing in line for five hours, I auditioned and won a job as a ‘Streetmosphere’ player,” she wrote. “By now my boys were older and on their own, so I could accept the offer and move to Florida. I played Annie Hannigan, cleaning lady to the stars. The contract only lasted a year, but it convinced me that I could make a living acting.”
  3. Steve Martin (Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Parenthood) – Disneyland
    • One of the more popular Disney Parks alumni is Steve Martin! From its opening in 1955 (when he was 10!), Steve worked a variety of jobs at Disneyland – from selling guidebooks to twirling lassos in Frontierland. He would later work at Merlin’s Magic Shop in Fantasyland for 3 years.
  4. Richard Carpenter (The Carpenters)
    • Richard Carpenter – from the famous duo ‘The Carpenters” could be found crooning on Main Street U.S.A.! He reportedly wrote music ideas on Pepsi napkins.
  5. Wayne Brady (Whose Line is it Anyways?) – Walt Disney World
    • If you’ve seen Wayne Brady act, you know he is a multi-talented machine! It is no surprise that his first job as a teen in entertainment would be as Tigger! According to his interview with Playbill, the gig wasn’t all fun! A hot Florida would end up getting to him and he ended up passing out in his costume!
  6. Teri Garr (Young Frankenstein, Tootsie)
    • In a Hollywood Reporters article – it was noted that Teri Garr was “the Statue of Liberty on roller skates in Show Me America,” – which was a show during the summer of the 70’s. She could be found carrying “a torch that spewed confetti or Ping-Pong balls.”
  7. Kevin Costner (Field of Dreams, Dances with Wolves) –Disneyland
    • All aboard the Jungle Cruise! This ride is not only home to some fabulous fun but was also where Kevin Costner worked on his jokes as a tour guide! Definitely, a shame he wasn’t in the live-action film version of the ride! He even met his first wife, Cindy, at the parks – who was “friends with” Snow White!
  8. Taye Diggs (Chicago, Grey’s Anatomy)
    • There’s not a ton of information on his exact job, but Actor Taye Diggs worked at Tokyo Disneyland for a year!
  9. Ronald Reagan – While the 40th president of the US never played any characters, he did welcome guests on the day of the opening of Disneyland California in 1955. He was hired while he was an out-of-work actor.
