What Is There For Adults To Do At Walt Disney World? 1

This is a question I get asked a LOT – as my husband and I have taken MANY trips to Walt Disney World just the two of us – and many people just can’t see beyond Disney being “for kids”. While part of Walt Disney’s vision was to create a magical experience for the little ones, he really was looking at the bigger picture when he opened Disneyland and planning for Walt Disney World – he wanted it to be somewhere where EVERYONE was welcome and felt at home, and having traveled there as both a child and an adult – I can say for sure that he succeeded – and that Disney World is even BETTER as an adult! Read on for all the amazing things Disney World has to offer to their adult guests:

The Food: Disney World offers up a huge variety of dining options – from snack carts to counter service to all kinds of sit down restaurants – they serve it all, and as adult travelers, you’re free to explore it! There are some truly delicious steaks waiting to be had at Yachtsman Steakhouse, fresh sushi served with an amazing view of the Magic Kingdom’s fireworks at California Grill, and authentic Irish grub with nightly music and dancing at Raglan Road Irish Pub in Disney Springs (a personal favorite of mine and my husband’s!). The point I am trying to make here is – without the little ones, your palette can be expanded beyond the world of PB&J and chicken nuggets – and what parent wouldn’t take advantage of that (I know I would!)

“Adult” Beverages: You have probably heard of the “Drink around the World” challenge – where you explore the drinks of each country in the Epcot World Showcase, which is a great adults only activity (when done right and responsibly, of course!). Epcot may be the most well-known place to grab a drink at Disney, but there are TONS of other spots that offer up some unique adult beverages too. Jiko – The Cooking Place is a restaurant at WDW’s Animal Kingdom Lodge that offers up a large selection of South African wines – a wine list so great that it has won several awards over the years, including being named one of Wine Enthusiast’s Top 100 Restaurants in the US. Raglan Road has a huge bar with an even huger menu – plenty of beers, wines, whiskeys, and signature mixed drinks to choose from. There are bars and restaurants all over Disney World that offer a variety of “adult beverages” – and without the kids in tow, you can sit back, sip, relax, and enjoy!

Date Night: Speaking of food and beverages, why not combine those and dress up for a fun night out? You can do dinner and dancing, go see a show, go bowling or to the movies – the possibilities are endless! On an adults-only trip, every night is date night!

Sports: For the water enthusiasts – you can go water skiing, jet-skiing, rent a boat (motorboats, or pedal boats and canoes for the more physically inclined), and even go para-sailing at several WDW resorts. Additionally, WDW is home to 5 golf courses (three of which are PGA courses), so if golf is your thing they’ve got you covered there, too. Many of the Moderate and Deluxe Resorts also offer on-site workout rooms, and every Resort has tons of walking/running trails on property so you can get your cardio fix while on vaca

Shopping: Disney Springs is the home to a large number of stores (many of which are non Disney related, so if you are in the market for a souvenir without the Mouse on it, this is the place for you!). It’s a great place to visit because you don’t need a park ticket for it, and there are tons of great restaurants to dine at too – should you get hungry from all the shopping! Plus, every WDW Park & Resort have multiple stores, some of which sell some really unique items like art, jewelry, and more

Relaxation At Its Finest: Pamper yourself and indulge in a spa treatment or two – Disney World has multiple World Class Spas right on property – and they offer tons of services from a variety of facials, massages (including prenatal massage!), body treatments including scrubs and wraps, as well as standard and deluxe varieties of manicures and pedicures available as well. Or if you don’t feel like going anywhere, there’s always a place to relax and kick back at your WDW Resort Hotel – as all of the WDW resorts offer beautiful pools, many have sit down restaurants, bike rentals, walking/jogging paths, and much more, and a bonus here is that during the day while most folks are away at the parks, these activities may be virtually empty and ready for you to enjoy
