Walt Disney World Resort is known as the most magical place on Earth. When Disney’s Magic Kingdom theme park opened, no alcohol was served at the park. Things have definitely changed in the past 50 years and now, alcohol can be purchased at all 4 Disney World parks (although at Magic Kingdom guests must be at a table service restaurant to be served). Drinking at Disney can be quite a controversial subject. Should Disney limit guests’ alcohol consumption? It depends on who you ask.
Drinking at Disney’s Magic Kingdom
As mentioned in the previous paragraph Disney definitely does limit guests’ drinking in Magic Kingdom more than in the other 3 parks. At Magic Kingdom, guests who wish to enjoy an alcoholic beverage must be at a table service dining location. There are no stands or bars that serve alcohol in Magic Kingdom park. You will also only find beer and wine served here, no liquor.
Drinking at EPCOT
There’s no denying that EPCOT is the park that serves by far the most alcohol out of the 4 Disney World parks. After all, drinking around the world is an entire challenge based on consuming alcohol at all of EPCOT’s World Showcase pavilions. If you’ve ever been to EPCOT during an International Food & Wine Festival weekend, you know that there is no shortage of adult guests trying to complete this drinking challenge. There are definitely times where it looks as though Disney is not doing much to limit guests’ drinking, but I assure you, they are trying and will limit guests’ or cut them off if they feel it necessary.
Drinking at Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park
Disney’s Hollywood Studios Park also has some great spots to grab an adult beverage. Two of my favorites are Baseline Tap House and Oga’s Cantina. Oga’s Cantina is a very popular drinking spot in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and does limit guests’ to 2 drinks per guest. The table service dining locations at Disney’s Hollywood Studios also offer some delicious and unique adult beverages. It does not seem like there is an issue with overindulgence at this park.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park
Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park also has some really incredible bars, lounges, and cocktail stands! I personally love Nomad Lounge for craft cocktails! My other favorite is the Mo’ara Margarita served at Pongu Pongu, a small stand in Pandora outside of Satu’li Canteen. Again, I don’t see overindulgence as an issue at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.
Overall, I don’t think Disney needs to do more to limit guests’ alcohol consumption in the parks. It does not seem like a serious problem. Of course, I’m sure there are individual circumstances where alcohol limits would be helpful, but overall I do think guests understand Disney is a place for families and do their best to keep it magical.
