These 3 fun activities make a trip to Fort Wilderness a great addition to your next Walt Disney World vacation
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is a campground that is located on Walt Disney World property. The Fort Wilderness property spans over 750 Acres, with guest accommodations that include tent campsites, sites for RV’s, and cabins. As an on-property resort, guests staying at Fort Wilderness are able to take advantage of the perks afforded to on-property guests, such as theme park transportation and access to advanced dining reservations for your entire trip available 60 days prior to check in.
Guests staying at Fort Wilderness can enjoy hikes along the scenic trails, a dip in the Meadow Swimmin’ Pool, and a myriad of fun recreational activities (many of which are available to guests not staying at the resort!). In this article, we will explore 3 activities that are available to all guests that make Fort Wilderness a fun stop during your next Walt Disney World vacation.

Archery
Guests 7 years of age or older can enjoy this 75-minute experience during which they will learn how to shoot a compound bow. Class sizes are limited to 10 guests, which ensures each guest receives adequate one-on-one time with the Archery Guides. During the activity, Archery Guides will teach you the basics of how to shoot a bow, as well as the essentials of archery range safety. There is plenty of time to shoot a ton of arrows throughout the experience. The Fort Wilderness Archery Experience does book up quickly, so advanced reservations are encouraged.
Horse Back Riding
The Tri-Circle-D Ranch provides a great experience of horse lovers of all ages. Horse breeds that call Tri-Circle-D ranch home include Appaloosas, Arabians, Belgians, Clydesdales, Percherons and Quarter Horses, plus Shetland Ponies. Guests are welcome to walk through the ranch while it is open to visit the horses.
Pony Rides are available for guests who are at least 2 years of age, under 80 pounds, no taller than 48 inches, and able to hang on by themselves. Advanced reservations are not available for Pony rides, which are available up to 30 minutes prior to Tri-Circle-D Ranch’s closing time.
For older guests, Horse Back Riding is available. To participate in a Trail Ride, guests must be at least 9 years of age, be at least 48 inches tall, and weigh under 250 lbs. Trail rides are appropriate for both beginner and intermediate riders, and provide a great way to explore the Fort Wilderness Resort property. Trail Rides are quite popular, so advanced reservations are highly recommended.
During the holiday season, guests can experience Holiday Sleigh Rides. The sleigh rides provide a scenic trip down the Fort Wilderness Resort trails aboard a sleigh that can seat up to 4 adults, or 2 adults and 3 small children. The sleigh rides are 25 minutes long, and cost $75.
