Halloween Horror Nights is known for weaving unforgettable nightmares, but few houses this year capture the eerie beauty of art and terror quite like El Artista: A Spanish Haunting. We had the opportunity to tour this house during our hosted RIP tour on opening night, and let us tell you — this is one of the most visually stunning haunted houses we’ve ever experienced at HHN. If you’re stepping into the fog this year, this one is a must-do.

Guests are transported back to 19th-century Spain to the desolate La Casa Creación, where tortured artist Sergio Navarro seeks inspiration. Instead of muses, he finds malevolent spirits who use his paintings, sculptures, and writings as portals into our world. As Sergio’s art comes alive, the ghosts begin to possess him, dragging guests into a chilling story where creativity turns into a curse.
The façade alone sets the tone: a massive, gothic-inspired manor draped in wisteria, whispering with ghostly voices. Once inside, you’ll walk through Sergio’s studio as paintings and sculptures burst to life, shadows move on their own, and canvases tear open to reveal spirits right in front of you. The house crescendos in the conservatory, the so-called “dark heart” of the manor, where stained glass and topiaries themselves are possessed by evil.

One of the most chilling reveals is that Sergio is not the first artist to fall victim to the manor’s dark influence. In the underground crypt, you discover that others came before him, each swallowed by the house and added to its macabre collection. By the final scene — ominously titled The Masterpiece — Sergio himself joins the ranks of the haunted.
What makes El Artista stand out is its artistry. You’ll see ghosts stretching out of paintings, bursting through canvases, and even walking through walls in ways HHN has never attempted before. Wisteria blooms throughout, tied to the spirit of a florist who met her end within the manor. Floral aromas and the musty scent of old books add an unexpected sensory layer, balancing beauty with dread.

The design is not just beautiful — it’s loaded with hidden details. From nods to other original HHN houses woven into Sergio’s art to the symbolic use of poppies, fans of Universal’s layered storytelling will have plenty to discover.
Between the gorgeous stained glass, ghostly illusions, and one of the strongest character-driven stories we’ve seen at HHN in years, El Artista: A Spanish Haunting feels like wandering through a haunted painting come to life. It’s equal parts chilling and mesmerizing, the kind of house that lingers in your imagination long after you’ve left the fog.
If you’re building your game plan for HHN 2025, make sure El Artista is at the top of your list. Sergio’s final masterpiece might just be your most unforgettable scare of the season.
