If you have ever wondered whether celebrating Halloween at Disneyland Resort hotels is worth building a trip around, my answer this fall is a big, pumpkin-spiced yes. The parks get most of the attention during Halloween Time, but the Disneyland Hotel, Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa and Pixar Place Hotel have quietly become some of my favorite places to soak up the season.

Some of what I’m sharing below is open to anyone strolling over from Downtown Disney, while other perks are just for overnight guests. I’ll flag which is which so you can plan accordingly.
Why I Love Halloween at Disneyland Resort Hotels
For me, Halloween at Disneyland Resort hotels is where the season slows down. After a loud, happy night in the parks, walking into a lobby filled with seasonal décor, sweet treats and friendly faces feels like a warm hug. Each of the three hotels leans into Halloween in its own way, and that variety is exactly what makes hopping between them so much fun.
Pixar Place Hotel Goes Full Monsters, Inc.
Pixar Place Hotel is scaring up smiles this year with brand-new seasonal artwork starring Mike, Sulley, Boo and the rest of the Monstropolis crew. The designs are bright, bold and playful, and they come from Disney artist Brett Snodgrass. If your family laughs more than it screams, this is your spot.
While you’re there, don’t miss one of my favorite year-round treats: Joe Gardner from Pixar’s Soul playing live jazz piano in his lobby alcove. The deep purple walls around him feature his fellow musicians from The Half Note, and it’s the perfect little pause between park days.
Haunted Mansion Vibes at the Disneyland Hotel
The Disneyland Hotel is welcoming foolish mortals with Haunted Mansion-inspired displays featuring the four doomed souls from the famous stretching room. There’s also a set of menacing wrought iron gates that are just begging for a photo. Stand dead center, of course.
Near Goofy’s Kitchen, keep an eye out for a 5-foot confection shaped like a sweet Mickey Mouse pumpkin. There are 13 hidden Mickeys tucked into it, and yes, my competitive side absolutely kicks in every time I try to find them all.
A Nightmare Before Christmas Masterpiece at the Grand Californian
This is the one I’d make a special trip for. The pastry team at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa built a showstopping Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas scene with Jack Skellington, Sally and Zero perched on Spiral Hill, joined by Oogie Boogie and the Mayor. The team spent more than 800 hours on it, and it really shows.
Here’s what went into this sugary Halloween Town:
- 140 pounds of fondant
- 175 pounds of chocolate
- 150 pounds of powdered sugar
- 105 pounds of rice cereal
- 38 pounds of marshmallows
Character Dining Worth Booking Early
If your crew loves character meals, dining is one of the sweetest parts of Halloween at Disneyland Resort hotels, and the characters’ seasonal outfits are just adorable. Here’s where to go:
- Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian: Mickey’s Autumn Adventures for breakfast or brunch, and Clarabelle’s Enchanted Halloween Dinner in the evening.
- Goofy’s Kitchen at the Disneyland Hotel: a Halloween celebration with breakfast, brunch and dinner buffets.
Reservations are highly recommended for these character dining experiences, so check availability on the official Disneyland dining page as soon as your dates are set.
Not in the mood for a full meal? Seasonal menu items are also popping up at spots like The Sketch Pad Café at Pixar Place Hotel, plus GCH Craftsman Grill and the Great Hall Cart at Disney’s Grand Californian.
A Spooky Spa Day at Tenaya Stone Spa
Tenaya Stone Spa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is offering seasonal salon services, with hair, makeup or nail designs inspired by classic Disney characters. It’s a fun way to get costume-ready without the stress, and one of the more unexpected ways to enjoy Halloween at Disneyland Resort hotels.
The treatment I’m eyeing is the Wicked to the Core foot treatment. It starts with a warm foot soak with rich, creamy caramel aromas, then finishes with an exfoliating candy apple sugar scrub. After miles of park walking, that sounds like pure magic. Just note that spa treatments and salon services come with an additional fee.
Extra Treats for Overnight Guests
This is where staying on property really pays off, because some of the best parts of Halloween at Disneyland Resort hotels are reserved for overnight guests. My favorite is the complimentary Halloween Time Treat Trail, with trick-or-treating just for Disneyland Resort hotel guests. Stop by the Front Desk to pick up a wristband, goodie guide and treat bag.
There’s more seasonal fun on the calendar, too:
- A professional pumpkin carver will give demonstrations at the Disneyland Hotel on select dates from October 13 to 31, 2026.
- Hotel guests can decorate faux pumpkins on select weekdays in October at the Disneyland Hotel and Pixar Place Hotel.
- Complimentary activities like movie nights, Learn to Draw and Washcloth Creation classes are available for overnight guests.
My tip: ask the Front Desk for the activity and entertainment schedule when you check in so you don’t miss anything.
