Meet the Nyala Calves at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge

Nyala are a graceful antelope species native to southern Africa. Adults are known for their striking looks, with soft white stripes along their sides, and the males grow impressive spiral horns as they mature. Calves stay close to their mothers in the early weeks, which is exactly what this adorable trio is doing right now.

Tips for Spotting the New Calves on the Savanna

Once the calves make their savanna debut, Animal Kingdom Lodge guests will have front-row seats. Here are a few tips to boost your chances of seeing them:

  • Head to Arusha Rock, the overlook just beyond the Jambo House lobby, for sweeping views of the savanna.
  • Check out the Uzima and Sunset savannas, and the viewing areas at Kidani Village, for more chances to spot wildlife.
  • Go early in the morning or around dusk, when many animals are most active.
  • Bring binoculars, or borrow a pair at the resort, and ask the friendly Cultural Representatives and animal guides what they’ve seen that day.
