When Can I Start Booking My 2021 Disney World Vacation?

If you are a planner like me, then you might be wondering when you can book your 2021 Disney World vacation. With all that is going on in the world right now, planning your next trip to Disney can bring some much-needed joy and excitement.

Hotel-only bookings can be made up to 499 days in advance. So right now, you can book a hotel for as late as early October 2021. However, if you want to add park tickets or a dining plan, you’ll have to wait until packages are released. When booking a room-only reservation you will need to pay a deposit equal to one night’s stay with the balance due when you check-in.

If you end up adding tickets to your room-only reservation, that will change it to a package reservation. Packages require a $200 deposit when booked and the final payment is due 30 days before check-in. Disney usually releases package pricing in June for the following year. It’s usually not the same date every year so we can’t say for sure when it’ll happen this year.

Converting your room-only reservation to a package is not always as easy as it sounds. What you’re essentially doing is canceling that room-only reservation and booking a brand new package reservation. Once the Cast Member cancels the room-only, they will refund the deposit for it as well. Doing that will take a few minutes and you take the chance of losing that exact room-type during those few minutes. When they go to book the vacation package, they’ll need to charge the new deposit at that point as well.
