Can Off Site Guests Use Their Magic Band for Charging?

Magic Bands have become a HUGE part of Walt Disney World vacations – they can be customized online or in the Parks. They also serve a room keys, park tickets, and more for those that are staying at Disney Resort hotels. There are a lot of question connect to the bands and those that are staying off site. So, let’s talk about one option that is not included in the bands for those that are staying off site – charging.

First, guests that are staying at other Orlando area hotels can purchase a Magic Band before or during their vacation and link it to their My Disney Experience accounts – doing so will allow to have any Fastpass+ reservations and park tickets connected to your band. They can be purchased online or in person at the Disney Store before you travel and can simply link the bands to your account at home. You can also purchase customized bands within the parks and connect them to your account then.

Those staying offsite obviously cannot use their Magic Band as a room key and they also cannot use their band to charge things to their room. When Disney Resort guests check in to their resort they place a credit/debit card on file and set up a pin number that is entered at the time of each purchase; because off site hotels are in no way connected to the Disney system guests staying at these hotels cannot make purchases using their Magic Bands.
