Disney World For Adults: The Basics 1

When most people think of Walt Disney World, they think of it as a place for kids – and while it’s true that a lot of it may seem geared towards the younger crowd, the reality is that there is a TON for adults there, too! In fact, I have made it one of my missions in life to convince people why Disney World is the best place to vacation for ADULTS (not just kids!). Read on to learn more about Disney for Adults:

Dining: When one pictures “Theme Park Food” – images of chicken nuggets, burgers, and soggy pizza come to mind – which kids might enjoy, but generally it does not appeal much to the adult crowd. Luckily, that could not be further from the truth when it comes to the food Disney World is serving up on a daily basis – you can find anything and everything from Chinese to New American, sushi, salads, sandwiches, steaks, and plenty of vegetarian and other dietary-friendly options as well. Disney has over 140 restaurants on property – and almost 90 of those are full service sit down restaurants – so there is PLENTY to choose from, and chances are good you will find a bunch of new things to try. And it’s all prepared fresh for you, with the finest ingredients. Oh – but should you really want some of that standard theme park burger/nugget/pizza fare – they have that too.

Shopping: For those of you who like to shop, rest assured that there are PLENTY of places to do that at Walt Disney World – there is a store selling something literally everywhere you turn. There’s your standard souvenirs – t-shirts, hats, stuffed animals, magnets/pens etc – but there are plenty of speciality stores too – that sell everything from fine jewelry, to art, to beautiful glass creations, and much much more. The Theme Parks themselves have a lot of places to shop (and extra bonus – if you’re staying at a Disney Resort Hotel you can get your purchases sent back to your room so you don’t have to lug them around all day!), but the real place to go for the serious shopper is Disney Springs – an entertainment, dining, and shopping complex located on Disney property. Some of my top “adult” picks of places to shop in Disney Springs include: Alex and Ani, Vera Bradley, and Free People (yes – Disney actually has stores other than their own branded ones!). Your credit card will DEFINITELY get a workout as you hunt for the perfect trip souvenir (and then wind up with a dozen of them!)

Night Life: It’s not just rides and parades at Disney World – adults can experience a whole other world once the sun goes down. Many of the Disney Resorts have bars/lounges with nightly entertainment/live music, or you can check out the clubs/bars at Disney Springs. Or – you can head to Splittsville for some “luxury” bowling, to the AMC movie theater to catch a flick, or to Disney’s exclusive Cirque Du Soleil show – La Nouba – a true nighttime spectacular! There is a TON to do at night at Disney World – things really heat up once the kids head to bed, and even if you’re headed to Disney with the kids, I encourage you to still plan adults only Disney Date Night – you’ll be glad that you did!

Bottom Line: Walt Disney World has SO MUCH to offer – and while it seems like it’s all geared towards the little ones, it’s really not – they cater to all ages and interests, and really work hard at making sure adults are having a good time, too!
