As COVID-19 vaccines begin to roll out around the world, Disney is optimistically looking forward to a time in the future when guests and cast members can once again share smiles with each other in the Disney Parks and Resorts.

At this time, the CDC recommends continuing to practice healthy behaviors while experts learn more about the protection that COVID-19 vaccines provide under real-life conditions. With that in mind, Disney will continue to require Cast Members and Guests ages 2 and up to wear face coverings at all times except when actively eating or drinking while stationary and maintaining appropriate physical distancing. Existing health and safety measures like temperature checks, reduced capacity, physical distancing and increased frequency in cleaning will also stay in place.
In addition, it’s equally important for Cast Members to continue maintaining physical distancing whenever possible, even when wearing required face coverings, and face shields as needed.
The combination of these precautions, and guest compliance, is what enables Disney to keep the theme parks, Disney Springs and select Disney Resort Hotels open in the current environment.

Additionally, Disney has updated the face mask policy to include face coverings with clear panels. Those face masks are acceptable if they meet certain requirements. Face coverings may have an integrated transparent plastic panel to aid in viewing the wearer’s mouth. These face coverings must:
- Be a fabric face covering featuring a solid plastic panel containing no openings that is attached to the fabric on all sides using tight knit stitching
- Meet all other face covering requirements
Disney will keep working with health authorities on many dimensions of health and safety and will evaluate and adjust their approach as needed in the months to come.
Getting a COVID-19 vaccine may protect you from the virus, but for the time being, you’ll still need to wear a face mask at Walt Disney World. If you’d like help planning your next Disney vacation, contact me today for a free vacation quote!
