Disney’s Animal Kingdom is already packed with wild adventures, but the park also has some truly unique character experiences hiding among the trees, trails, and safari-style photo spots. From classic Disney pals in their Animal Kingdom best to characters you will not find greeting quite the same way anywhere else, this park is full of meet-and-greet magic for guests willing to explore.

Before heading out on your character safari, the My Disney Experience app is your best trail map. Guests can tap the map pin at the bottom of the screen, swipe to Characters, choose Locations, and select Disney’s Animal Kingdom to see who is meeting and when. You can view characters on the map or use the list view to find locations and appearance times. Some character moments may still be surprise encounters, so keep those explorer eyes open.

In the Oasis, guests may find Rafiki and Timon greeting near the park entrance. Rafiki is ready to guide guests with a little wisdom, while Timon brings plenty of fun and just might be up for a dance. Both characters typically begin appearing about an hour after park opening and rotate about every 30 minutes. Also in the Oasis, guests can meet Pocahontas in a beautiful natural setting near the bridge to Discovery Island, making this one of the more fitting and peaceful character spots at Walt Disney World.

Over on Discovery Island, Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde from Zootopia are on duty at The Gathering Spot near the Tree of Life, just outside Zootopia: Better Zoogether! This has become a popular meet and greet, so guests hoping to see the crime-solving duo should plan for some extra time. Discovery Island is also a great place to look for characters from Up. Russell may appear along the Discovery Trails, and his visits do not always show in the app. Guests may also spot Kevin or Dug roaming around the area, with Dug’s special voice box making his greetings extra fun for fans.

Bluey’s Wild World

For something different, families can head to Conservation Station for a playful experience with Bluey and Bingo. This is not a traditional stand-and-pose character greeting, but a one-of-a-kind play experience where little ones can dance and play games like Magic Asparagus, Keepy Uppy, and the Octopus Game. To get there, guests will need to hop aboard the Wildlife Express Train at Harambe Station near the exit to Kilimanjaro Safaris.

Animal Kingdom is also the place to find Mickey Mouse and his pals dressed for adventure. Donald Duck and Daisy Duck greet guests in safari outfits near Garden Gate Gifts in the Oasis, while Mickey and Minnie meet in their explorer looks at Adventurers Outpost near the bridge to Asia. Guests can also look for Goofy and Pluto in Asia, making this a must-do park for anyone who loves character photos with a wild twist.
