The Mufasa Mask Prototype: The Lion King Puppet Workshop proudly displays the original Mufasa mask prototype, crafted by the visionary Julie Taymor. This legendary artifact, never before seen by the public, offers a unique look at the creation of this iconic character.

Puppet Embellishments: The Lion King Puppet Workshop reveals the ingenious use of natural materials to bring the animal kingdom to life. Spot feathers adorning Zazu, straw forming the giraffes, and playful pom-poms representing the wildebeests. These wild creations are a testament to the artistry of puppetry.

Perfect Puppet Placement: To ensure authenticity, Arthur Caudros, a puppet dayworker from “The Lion King” on Broadway, personally arranged the Puppet Workshop display. He meticulously placed each item as it would appear in a real workstation, providing an intimate glimpse into the daily life of a puppeteer.

The Sands of Time: In the Aladdin Costume Studio, a clock next to a bulletin board is frozen at 3:20. This seemingly insignificant detail marks the exact time of the musical’s Broadway opening at the New Amsterdam Theatre on March 20, 2014.

Genie’s Fabulous Style: The Costume Studio’s fabric bin overflows with colorful bolts of material sourced directly from the costume shop that supplies Disney on Broadway shows worldwide. Keep an eye out for the vibrant blue fabric that makes up the Genie’s dazzling pants, also on display in CommuniCore Hall.

Classic Hidden Mickeys: Disney wouldn’t be Disney without a few Hidden Mickeys! Search carefully between the Aladdin Costume Studio and The Lion King Mask & Puppet Workshop to discover seven cleverly concealed Mickeys. A bonus eighth Mickey may even be found at the tip of a brush.

Tale as Old as Time: The King Arthur book in the display case hails from the original 1994 Broadway debut of “Beauty and the Beast.” This hand-made book, created by senior props designer Stan Meyer, is the oldest artifact in the entire exhibit.

Dancing from On-Stage to On-Screen: Fans of “Newsies” will rejoice at the sight of the exact Jack Kelly costume worn by Jeremy Jordan in the Disney+ filming. This is a rare opportunity to see this iconic piece of theatrical history up close.
