How Do Refillable Mugs Work?

Walt Disney World Resort offers Refillable Mugs for guests to purchase and use for free refills. These mugs are 16 oz insulated mugs sold at the Disney resort hotels. They come with the purchase of any dining plan or can be bought separately. Guests use these mugs to receive unlimited refills on fountain drinks, coffee, and tea at any of the self-service beverage locations at the Disney resorts for their length of stay. The mugs are enhanced with an RFID chip that allows the mug to deactivate when your resort stay is complete.

If you are not purchasing a dining plan and decide to buy the mug separately the prices are:
• $8.99 for 1 day
• $11.99 for 2 days
• $14.99 for 3 days
• $17.99 for length of stay (up to 14 consecutive days)
You can buy your mug at the purchase/refill stations located in the food courts, quick service locations, and pool bars at all Value, Moderate, and Deluxe resorts.

One really awesome perk to having a refillable mug is that you can use the same one at any of the Disney-owned resort hotels! So if you decide to resort hop, be sure to take your mug with you. You can’t use your refillable mugs in the theme parks (unless you’re getting water). You may reactivate your mug on later trips, so long as it has an RFID chip.

The beverages you can fill your mug with are soda (all soda at Disney is Coco-Cola products), coffee, iced or hot tea, and hot chocolate. Milk and fruit juice (such as orange or apple juice), and alcoholic beverages aren’t available for refill in these mugs. Here’s step-by-step directions on how to use your Refillable Mug:

1. Purchase your mug at any of the purchase/refill stations. If you purchased a dining plan, use your MagicBand at check out to “pay” for your mug. You will want to rinse your mug prior to filling it with a beverage.
2. Place your mug flat on the stand below the soda dispenser of your choice. Once your mug has reached its “full capacity”, the dispenser’s screen will alert you with a “Fill Complete” message.
3. You won’t be allowed to refill that same mug for 2 minutes. If you do try to refill before the 2 minute mark, the dispenser’s screen will let you know how much time until the next refill is available.
4. If you like to combine beverages (i.e. Coke & Lemonade), you will still be able to mix to your heart’s content-up until you receive the “Fill Complete” message.
