Attention fellow Halloween Horror Nights fans, your pre-scare routine might be getting a major glow-up. Traditionally, Stay & Scream has meant heading into one of several designated “holding areas” inside Universal Studios Florida if you had a daytime ticket (or a “Scream Early” admission) plus a valid HHN ticket. Once there, you’d wait in place until the event officially kicked off, often with early access to one or two haunted houses. The big perk? You’d beat the main gate crowd and be among the first to face the night’s terrors.

But if recent reports hold true, that familiar formula is getting a serious overhaul.

The New Stay & Scream Flow (Unofficial but Widely Shared)

Here’s how the updated process is reportedly set to work this year:

  • Wristbands at 3 PM: Starting at 3:00 PM, eligible guests (those with valid daytime or Scream Early admission) can pick up their HHN wristbands from one of three convenient locations—Lombard’s Seafood Grill, Minion Café, or Villain-Con Minion Blast.
  • Full Park Access: Instead of being restricted to a holding area, guests will reportedly be allowed to roam the entire park during the late afternoon transition. This would mark a major departure from past years, where access was limited until the event officially began.
  • House Queues Open Early at 4 PM: Haunted house queues would start opening at 4:00 PM. Notably, houses like Fallout (rumored to begin operations around 5:15 PM) and Terrifier (opening at 5:30 PM) may allow Stay & Scream guests to hop from one house to another before the event opens to the public at 6:30 PM—no additional sweeps or waits required.
  • More Time for Fun: With this updated system, you’d have more time to enjoy attractions, food, and merchandise while still securing early access to the biggest houses of the night. Translation? Less time standing around and more time living your best HHN life.

Why This Matters

This change, if confirmed by Universal, could significantly improve the HHN experience, especially for those trying to maximize their house count or avoid the worst of the crowds. By removing the holding-area bottleneck and allowing guests to move freely, it makes the afternoon transition feel less like a waiting game and more like a true pre-party.

It’s worth noting that this hasn’t yet been officially confirmed by Universal Orlando, but the level of detail and consistency across multiple sources gives this rumor some serious weight. Stay tuned, we’ll be keeping a close eye for official updates!
