What is Disney Early Morning Magic?

The early bird definitely catches the worm at Walt Disney World as Disney recently unveiled two premium morning experiences designed to give visitors a chance to enjoy key attractions at both Magic Kingdom and Hollywood Studios before the parks open to the general public. Following a model similar to those of other exclusive ticketed events like fireworks dessert parties, Disney Early Morning Magic- Fantasyland and Disney Early Morning Magic – Hollywood Studios are perfect for early risers happy to head out to parks at the crack of dawn to enjoy their favorite attractions without the wait.

But coming in at $69.00 for an adult ticket and $59.00 for children 3-9, are these packages a much-needed extra for Disney connoisseurs or an overpriced add-on for an already expensive holiday? We’ll give the facts on both so that you can make up your own mind.

Disney Early Morning Magic- Fantasyland

For guests that want the premium experience of a quiet park, Magic Kingdom offers their Early Morning Magic offering on Sundays and Tuesdays.

The event is designed to serve as an add-on to already purchased park tickets and gives guests an opportunity to enter the parks at 7.45 am (that’s 75 minutes before Rope Drop). However rather than having full reign of the Magic Kingdom, there are only 3 Fantasyland rides operating at this time:

Peter Pan’s Flight
Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Early Morning Magic guests have unlimited access to these rides between 7:45 and 9am when the park opens to the general public.

An added benefit of this package is a continental breakfast at Pinnocchio Village Haus. From 8:30 -10 am guests can choose from a selection of fruit, pastries, eggs, bacon and the ever popular Mickey waffles. Breakfast also includes free hot and cold beverages. This means that guests can spend the first 60 minutes of the morning enjoying the rides on offer before settling down to some grub when the park officially opens at 9am.

Disney Early Morning Magic – Hollywood Studios

Starting on August 1, 2016. Hollywood Studios joins the Magic Kingdom in offering an early morning option. Disney Early Morning Magic – Hollywood Studios will take place on Monday and Wednesday mornings also at 7.45 am. Like the Fantasyland option, guests have unlimited access to two headlining attractions between 7:45 and when the park opens to the general public at 9am. And though Hollywood Studios offers one ride less than the Fantasyland option, you also get two character meet and greet experiences included in the package. The attractions available to early morning guests are as follows:

Star Tours – The Adventure Continues
Toy Story Mania
Woody and Buzz Character Greetings
Minnie and Mickey Character Greetings

This option also comes with an all-you-care-to-enjoy breakfast at ABC Commissary from 8am – 10am with menu items including: a fruit selection, eggs and bacon, sausages, breakfast potatoes, French toast, spinach and mushroom frittatas, breakfast pastries, and coffees, milk and fruit juices. Again by extending the dining window until 10am, this means that guests can squeeze in over an hour of ride time before settling down to breakfast when the park opens to the general public at 9am and then using the time between 9am – 10am to eat your exclusive breakfast.

So does Disney’s Early Morning Magic provide an added value for Disney visitors? As those of us who have clamored for 8am breakfast reservations will tell you, Walt Disney World is beautiful first thing in the morning when the parks are empty and before the onslaught of crowds. Early Morning Magic may also serve as a nice alternative for guests staying offsite who want to experience Early Morning Magic Hours or for families who aren’t on the dining plan. Though coming in at more expensive than some table service meals, visitors still have the added advantage of being able to take in these more in-demand attractions, have a bite to eat, and still have their 3 Fastpasses to use during the rest of the day.

Getting Tickets

Early Morning Magic Hours – Fantasyland has recently been extended through September 30, 2016 with Early Morning Magic Hours- Hollywood Studios starting its inaugural morning on August 1st. Tickets for both offerings are on sale now. Due to limited availability advanced booking is strongly recommended. Guests should note that you must have a valid park ticket in addition to your Early Morning Magic ticket in order to participate. Disney transportation will extend its bus operations to accommodate on-site guests going to and from these events.
