Will you be visiting Walt Disney World this summer? There’s so many new experiences to enjoy! Be sure you include these top 5 “must-do” activities brought to you by your friends at Disney Addicts!
5. Stop and Enjoy the Ice Cream
Summer in Walt Disney World can be HOT! Be sure to schedule time into your touring plans to slow down and cool off with some ice cream! Whether you opt for the classic Mickey Mouse ice cream bar or an old fashioned ice cream sundae at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street U.S.A., your family will be sure to enjoy downtime savoring this tasty treat! If you’d rather escape the parks for an afternoon ice cream snack, try Ample Hills Creamery along the BoardWalk or head to Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort where you can even order the Kitchen Sink!
Did you know that Hollywood Studios has just debuted a brand new show? Your family can now enjoy live music from your favorite Disney movies with The Music of Pixar LIVE! A Symphony of Characters at the Theater of Stars. Sit back and enjoy scores from Up, Cars, Toy Story, Finding Nemo, Monsters., Inc., and The Incredibles as a live 50-piece orchestra plays along with clips from each film. You’ll even be greeted by your favorite characters who visit on stage during each show! Current daily showtimes are scheduled for 5:00 PM, 6:45 PM, and 8:15 PM, and shows run for approximately 45 minutes. It’s recommended that guests line about 20-30 minutes before showtime. However, if you’d rather skip the line, then make reservations for The Music of Pixar LIVE! Dining Package! Choose breakfast, lunch, or dinner at The Hollywood Brown Derby, Hollywood & Vine, or Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano and get priority seating for one of the evening shows! Reserve this dining package online via your My Disney Experience account or call (407) WDW-DINE.
3. Splash Into Fun with Disney’s Water-Themed Attractions
Disney Parks arguably have the best attractions at any theme park; but their water rides are especially popular with family members of all ages! Whether it’s Splash Mountain in Magic Kingdom or Kali River Rapids in Animal Kingdom, consider scheduling your FastPass+ selections for these fun-filled, water-themed attractions! Your little ones might also love to visit Casey Jr. Splash ‘N’ Soak Station in New Fantasyland in Magic Kingdom. This circus-themed water play area is located near the train station in Storybook Circus. It features sprinklers, hoses, and water jets that kids will love while parents can hang back and relax. But if you’re really looking to make a splash, you have to head to Typhoon Lagoon, one of two Disney water parks, where your family can ride the brand new attraction, Miss Adventure Falls! This white-water adventure is the longest water ride in the history of Disney Parks! Be sure to add on the Park Hopper Plus option to your tickets for entry to both Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon and Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Parks!
2. Witness the Happily Ever After Nighttime Spectacular at Magic Kingdom
Magic Kingdom’s Wishes fireworks show has recently been replaced by a brand new spectacular nighttime show – Happily Ever After! This 18-minute show features amazing special effects including laser lights, castle projections, and, of course, breathtaking fireworks! Your family will love ending your day with this beautiful story that captures the essence of many classic Disney films, including Aladdin, Frozen, Moana, and Toy Story. Fireworks will light up the sky along with a brand new musical score that will leave your family filled with joy and wonder. But don’t worry! Tinkerbell is still a part of this nightly fireworks spectacular! Be sure to claim a spot near the castle for the perfect viewing location. You might also consider purchasing tickets for the Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace. Visit your My Disney Experience account or call (407) WDW-DINE for reservations.
1. Visit Pandora: The World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom
It’s finally here! On May 27th, Disney officially opened it’s newest land – Pandora: The World of Avatar at Animal Kingdom Park! This immersive land will leave you awestruck, even for those who have never seen the Avatar film! Guests will be swept into Pandora as they’re greeted with the unique scenery of the Valley of Mo’ara, along with its delectable cuisine. Best of all, you’ll get to experience brand new magical attractions! Your family can ride their own banshee on Avatar Flight of Passage, an exciting 3D ride in which you can even FEEL your banshee breathing beneath you! Then venture to Na’vi River Journey where you’ll explore the bioluminescent wonders of the Pandora rainforest on your quest to find the Na’vi Shaman of Songs. Before you leave Pandora, be sure to stop into Windtraders; this shop features Na’vi cultural items, and you can even take home your own banshee to remember the magic of Pandora!
Venturing to Walt Disney World at any time of the year is always special. However, there’s more reasons than ever to head to the Disney Parks this summer!
