The myriad water rides at Universal Orlando Resort provide a great way to beat the summer heat
Universal Orlando Resort is a destination at the top of many families Summer vacation destination lists. If you were not already aware, it can get hot here in central Florida during the summer months. You’ll want to make sure to include some water rides in your itinerary to keep cool and have a splashin’ good time. Fortunately, Universal Orlando Resort offers a variety of wet and wild attractions that are perfect for beating the heat and making lasting memories. So, let’s dive right in and explore some of my favorite water rides at Universal Orlando Resort!

Islands of Adventure
Islands of Adventure provide some amazing water rides to cool off during a trip to Universal Orlando Resort. The Jurassic Park River Adventure allows you to enter the gates of Jurassic Park, make some new dinosaur friends, and cool off in the process. The 85-foot plunge at the end of the attraction was the largest theme park water descent ever constructed when it was built!
Dudley Do-Right’s Ripsaw Falls combines a roller coaster with a flume ride with the fun of the classic cartoons to provide edge-of-your-seat action your family will enjoy. The ride invites you to make your way through twists and turns along Dudley Do-Right as you head towards a 75-foot drop. This is one ride that you will soak you right down to your socks, so consider changing into flip flops and/or bringing a spare change of clothes with you.
Popeye & Bluto’s Bilge-Rat Barges provide the classic raft-type water rapid adventure your family is looking for. This is another attraction that provides lots of water to cool you off, and is a great ride to hop on in the middle of the day. You again will want to consider swapping into flip flops to avoid walking around for the rest of the day in wet sneakers and socks.
Volcano Bay: A Water Wonderland
A trip to Universal Orlando Resort isn’t complete without a visit to Volcano Bay, the ultimate water theme park. The “Krakatau Aqua Coaster” is the crown jewel of this tropical paradise, offering twists, turns, and, of course, plenty of water. To avoid long wait times, be sure to use the Virtual Line with your TapuTapu band, allowing you to enjoy other attractions while you wait.
For a more relaxing experience, unwind at Kopiko Wai Winding River or soak up the sun at Waturi Beach. But for an adrenaline rush, take on the “TeAwa The Fearless River,” a thrilling ride that takes the lazy river concept to a whole new level.
Volcano Bay offers over 21 different slides and attractions, ensuring there’s something for everyone. Whether you want to feel like you’re surfing sea turtles and whales on “Honu of the Honu ika Moana” or experience heart-pounding thrills on the “Ko’okiri Body Plunge,” you won’t be disappointed. For a little friendly competition, challenge your friends to a race on the “Punga Racers,” or take the plunge on “Ohno and Ohyah,” dropping you six feet above the refreshing pool below. It’s the perfect water ride destination for both thrill-seekers and families of all ages.
Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort: Fun Beyond the Parks
When you’re not at the theme parks, the fun continues at Universal’s Cabana Bay Beach Resort. Take a relaxing outing to The Lazy River Courtyard, complete with a sparkling swimming pool, waterslide, lazy river, and sandy beach. While Cabana Bay is the only Universal resort hotel with a lazy river, all the Universal Orlando Resort hotels offer resort-style pools, allowing you to cool off before or after your adventure-filled days.
So, this summer, beat the Florida heat with a visit to the water rides at Universal Orlando Resort. Whether you’re journeying through Jurassic Park, braving the rapids with Popeye, or experiencing the ultimate water theme park at Volcano Bay, there’s no shortage of wet and wild fun for the whole family. So grab your sunscreen, put on your bathing suit, and get ready to make a splash on your vacation!
