For Disney Parks fans who have been eyeing the TRON ride ever since ground broke, many questions have been asked about the status of the ride.
When is the Ride Set to Open?
The original opening date for the park was set to be ready for the 50th Anniversary – which is occurring on October 1st, 2021. That date might come and go before we hear of the official opening date of the ride itself. The new tentative time is not until 2022 – so it might be around for the 50th Anniversary but information is a bit lax on that part.
How Will The Ride Work?
Unlike a traditional rollercoaster, riders will climb on a LightCycle and make their way around a futuristic track. The feel is said to be similar to TestTrack and Space Mountain, with a sprinkle of the seating of Flight of Passage mixed in. The ride itself is almost an exact clone of its sister ride at Shanghai Disneyland. The ride can take you over 60 mph, so thrill-seekers, this one is for you! No official word from Walt Disney World, but expectant mothers and small tykes will probably have to sit this one out. For those unable to wait for its Magic Kingdom version, plan a visit to Shanghai Disneyland and check it out!
What Was Disney World’s Last Update on the Ride?
The last offical update we had from Disney Parks Blog was almost a year ago, in September 2020 as they were installing the canopy piece on the top of the ride. At that point, there was still some optimism for its opening in 2021. Since then, we have not heard much about the status of this much-anticipated addition to the Disney World Attraction family.
Have you been waiting for this ride with bated breath? Here’s hoping that with this new ride, in a new section of Tomorrowland, will come a variety of new restaurants and additional attractions! We can’t wait!
