It seems so very long ago that you could sit down, turn on the Disney Channel and enjoy an episode of Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers. First premiered in March of 1989, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers only was produced until 1990. But 2 years and 65 episodes was all it took for this humble little show to become a fan favorite.

Why was it canceled? Various theories of standards and new directions of the Disney Channel linger, but the show found a new life in the 90s when it was rerun immediately after Talespin. Reruns continued on Toon Disney for nearly a decade (1998-2008)! With all that, Chip ‘n Dale: Rescue Rangers continued to have fans that spanned from the late 80s all the way until the late 00s.

It seems only natural that on May 20th, 2022, we have an official live-action release date for all the Rescue Ranger fans! The plot is simple and effective – with the cancellation of their hit television show, Chip and Dale – now estranged friends and investigators will need to put aside their issues to solve a disappearance! Wondering who will voice our favorite Chipmunks? Chip will be voiced by John Mulaney and Dale will be voiced by Andy Samberg!

Looking for more information about the adorable little investigators? We’ve added some facts that we think all fans would like to know!

  1. A Long Time Comin’
    • The live action film was announced in 2014 – which means that the project has been in the works for over 8 years!
  2. Modeled After the Best
    • The outfits of Chip and Dale may look familiar to movie buffs and 80s babies! Chip takes on the leather-clad look of Indiana Jones whilst Dale’s look is based off of Tom Selleck in Magnum P.I. – sans-mustache of course!
  3. Crossing Borders
    • Did you know that Rescue Rangers was one of the first American cartoons to be aired in The Soviet Union? Along with Ducktales of course!
