Q. Will be visiting Walt Disney World the last week of Feb 2016. I know rates are not available yet for 2015, but should be soon. I’m aware of the different policies between room only and package reservations. But with that being said, when 2016 rates are available would you suggest booking a room only reservation and altering the reservation when and discounts are released…..or simply wait for discounts to book. I will book ADRs at 180 days regardless. Just unsure if I should book a Room Only or a package- which is easier to change?
A. Historically, the rates are released in Late July for the next year, as of right we do not have a release date for 2016 rates. When you reserve a room only reservation, that will lock you into a room, but when you upgrade to a package, it is a different reservation. I would wait until 2016 rates are released if you are wanting to add tickets and dining. As for waiting for a discount to be released before booking, that is not necessary. Should a discount come open, for the dates you are booked for, you or your travel agent can call and request for that discount to be added to your reservation. Something to think about is, Disney will not contact you when discounts are released if they apply to your vacation. This is something that you or your travel agent have to watch. A good travel agent such as our friends at World of Magic Travel will watch for you, and automatically call and add the discount. That will save you a lot of time on the phone, as discount release days are very busy!
