Being a Disney Addict, we have all had this question at one point or another…
Why can’t I get a reservation for Be Our Guest?
Seriously, though, why is it so difficult to get reservations at Disney World restaurants? We all know that there are certain restaurants that are just unbelievably hard to get a table at, even if your online at 6 AM when the dining window opens up.
Let me set up the scenario for you (I am sure that it will be a familiar one)…You set your alarm for 5:30 AM. This will give you enough time to head to the kitchen and make coffee before you need to be set up in front of your computer. After your coffee is in hand, you log into Disney Dining and you pull up the restaurant of choice. You get everything ready so that at 6:00 AM exactly you are ready to pounce.
Coffee in one hand (in a Disney mug of course) with the pointer finger of your other hand paused over the enter key ready to hit that Find a Table button at exactly 6 AM on the dot. As you sit, you count down the final seconds….tick….tick….tick….ENTER! There, you have done it, you just know that you are going to be one of the chosen ones, one of the lucky few that that will snag that coveted 6:30 PM reservation….and then those horrible words pop up. The words that you just know you must be imagining…no table available around…
Disappointing and frustrating to say the least. So why is it that there are never any tables to be had?
Well the consensus seems to points to all those websites that make you pay them to find you a table. That’s right, they want you to actually pay them to let you know when a table becomes available. These website, that shall remain nameless..they will get no publicity from me, employee either people or set up bots to monitor the Disney Dining website snagging any and all reservations that they can so that you have almost no chance of getting one without paying them for their services.
Seriously, who has the time to monitor a dining site all day and night? They market to you, the consumer, by telling you that they can get you that “hard to get” reservation, but in truth, if they didn’t grab the reservations in the first place they wouldn’t be nearly as hard to get!! They are blocking us from making reservations on the Disney Dining site for FREE so they can charge us between $5 and $8 to let us know when they release a reservation so we can go online and snatch it up! What they are doing is unfair and deceitful and we need to stop giving them our business!!
Let’s face it, no one wants to get up at 5:30 AM to battle the bots, not to mention having to monitor the Disney Dining Website for days, weeks or even months to get those hard to get reservations! Well, no one but a Travel Agent that is!
The best way to beat the bot is to let a World of Magic Travel Agent help you plan your trip and make all of your Advance Dining Reservations for you, and OUR SERVICES ARE ALWAYS FREE!! I have one quick question if you dont mind answering, I am taking my family to the Mickeys Christmas Party in December, would I be able to make a reservation at Be Our Guest during the party hours if I do it in advance? And how much advance would tou recommend?
My gf and I have annual passes. We’ve found if you’re a couple with no kids, and go up to the reservation desk mid morning and butter up the hosts a bit, they may actually fit you in (it might be late lunch or late dinner though). By that time in mid to late morning, they have dealt with some extremely rude and cranky visitors. A little charm and appreciation might get you what you want because of this. It’s gotten me in a few times. 😉
Hi there! Unfortunately BOG stops taking advanced dining reservations at 6:30 on event nights, however, all may not be lost! If you plan on being at the park earlier than the 7 pm event start time (they actually allow you into the park at 4 pm with the event ticket) I would try heading over to BOG around 6:20 and speaking to a cast member there. A lot of the times they will accept walk ups later than ADR’s on event nights. I know that a friend of mine actually walked up and got a 6:50 walk up time the night of their event last year! So I would give that a try…good luck and have fun! MVMCP is my favorite event…we will be going this year as well!!
You are absolutely right! It is worth a shot! My daughter was there with her school in April and the ADR’s were full but she actually walked up with 4 of her friends and started a conversation with a cast member and they got in too! Kindness is key…what’s the old saying “you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar”!!
Just wanted to clarify – those sites that search for reservations strictly notify you when the reservation for a specific date/time/party size becomes available. They are not able to hold the reservation as you suggest. With that notification, the user is responsible for booking it, but there are no guarantees they will get the reservation. Only plus side to using them is you don’t have to sit there and search every day. Just wait until you get the email/text that it’s available and try to be the first to login and secure it.
We were originally going over Thanksgiving this year. I did this dance on the 180th day before our arrival and Liberty Kitchen was gone already. It occurred to me I could have booked us a 3 or even 4 week stay and gotten a 2 week jump on the reservation I wanted ahead of the 180 day mark. If my little brain could figure that out, I’m sure there’s plenty of folks who have.
