Q: Is the Wishes Fireworks Display at Magic Kingdom Closing?
A: Yes, Walt Disney World made the announcement this week that they will be retiring the long running Wishes evening fireworks extravaganza. However fireworks enthusiasts will be pleased to know that this is merely to make way for Disney’s newest evening offering ‘Happily Ever After’ which will mix pyrotechnics with state-of-the art castle projections. This new offering is slated to open on May 12th.
The new production will come in at just under 20 minutes and will showcase sequences from 25 much-loved Disney films projected on to Cinderella’s Castle and set to an original score by a 75-piece orchestra. The movies included in the show will include: Brave, Big Hero 6, The Princess & the Frog, Moana, Aladdin, Zootopia, The Little Mermaid, Toy Story and the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Wishes, is currently slated to run its last performance on May 11, 2017 after a 14 years of wowing guests at the Magic Kingdom. It opened in 2003 as a replacement for the Fantasy in the Sky fireworks display which had a 32 year run.
