5 tips on surprising your little ones with a WDW vacation!
We’ve all seen those incredible videos of parents telling their kids they are about to head out to a trip of a lifetime at Walt Disney World Resort! Kids are only little for so long. At certain ages, they genuinely believe in all the magic around them. I encourage you to take this chance & give them a surprise that they will never ever forget. Here are 5 quick ideas on how to surprise your “tiny human”. Don’t forget to have the video camera rolling… you’ll want to have that priceless reaction captured on film to cherish forever!
- Scavenger Hunt– Have a Disney-themed scavenger hunt right your own home. Hand the kiddos a “pirates treasure map” complete with clues. Use each room in your home as a stopping point with small gifts (Disney coloring books, Disney bathing suit/towel, stuffed animals, DVD’s, etc.) and have the last “stop” on the map be the big reveal! “We’re going to Disney World”!!
- Disney Movie Night– Order a Disney movie from the Disney Movie Club & have a Disney movie night with your littles, complete with themed food like fish sticks, gold fish & “ocean blue” Jell-O for a Little Mermaid movie night. At the end of the movie, ask if they would like to meet Ariel and tell them they can because “We’re going to Disney World”!
- Build a Puzzle– several sites like Shutterfly & Printer Studio will let you make a puzzle out of your own photo or template. Order a puzzle that claims “We’re going to Disney World”! Put it together as a family & let the exciting squeals of delight ensue!
- Character Call– Have a family member or friend, who can imitate a characters voice, call your child & personally invite them to come to the most magical place on Earth! Your little princess will melt when Cinderella asks her to visit the castle!
- Last Minute Map– Load up the car! Load up the kids! As you pull out of your driveway, hand your kiddo a map & tell him/her that you need a little help navigating. The night before, be sure to decorate the map of Florida with lots of Mickey heads, character stickers & lots of other magical touches. When they open up the map, they will know that they are about to make the trip of a lifetime… to a Walt Disney World resort!

We surprised my daughter for her 9th birthday when we picked her up from school. In front of her friends at school, we had her open a “gift box” that fell open like a popup card. Inside was a Mickey Mouse cutout holding a banner that said “Surprise! We’re going to Disney world RIGHT NOW!”
