What Benefits Do I Get With A Disney World Annual Pass?

Q: What special benefits come with being an Annual Passholder? 

A: If your family tends to visit Walt Disney World more than once a year, chances are you’ve thought about whether or not one of Disney’s Annual Passes represents a good value for money.  Though it may seem like quite a hefty price tag, for those interested in taking the Passholder plunge, there are actually a lot of fantastic privileges that come with being a Disney VIP.   Here’s a brief rundown of these Passholder perks.

First the basics,  a Walt Disney World Annual Pass includes admission to the following Orlando parks: Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios.  From there some of the benefits differ depending on category.  Here’s a quick breakdown of the different levels of Annual Passes available to guests.

Disney Platinum Pass – This is the cheaper of the two annual pass types currently on offer with prices coming in at $779 per person.  Annual Passholders at this level are entitled to the following benefits:

• Admission for a year to all 4 theme parks (No blockout dates)
• Park Hopping – Visit all 4 theme parks on the same day
• Includes Disney PhotoPass downloads
• Up to 20% off on select dining and merchandise
• Theme park parking

Disney’s Platinum Plus Pass – This option comes in at $869 per person and carries with it slightly more perks.   Here’s a list of the benefits:

• Admission for a year to all 4 theme parks, 2 Disney water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Disney’s Oak Trail Golf Course (No blockout dates)
• Park Hopping – Visit all 4 theme parks on the same day
• Includes Disney PhotoPass downloads
• Up to 20% off on select dining and merchandise
• Theme park parking

Water Park Annual Pass – This option is for those opting only to visit Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon and doesn’t carry with it a lot of the extensive perks of the other annual pass options as evidenced by its $125 price tag,

When it comes to additional benefits not listed above, Passholder guests will also receive special discounts for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and Very Merry Christmas Party, reduced prices for guided tours and invitations to special Passholder exclusive movie previews. There may also one-off-offers regularly throughout the year.  Annual Passholders are also eligible to purchase members only merchandise during events like the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival as well as Epcot International Food and Wine Festival.

In addition, there’s also two pretty cool perks worth singling out: Disney’s 45 Anniversary Passholder Dining Discount  as well as special Passholder entrances at the theme parks.  See below for further details.

45th Anniversary Special Dining Offer: 

Perfect for Disney foodies, in celebration of Disney World’s 45th Anniversary there is also a special Anniversary dining discount that is being extending to Passholders up until Sept 30, 2017.  Annual Passholders are eligible for 20% discounts at the following 45 Walt Disney World Resort dining locations:

Special Annual Passholder Entrances at Disney World Theme Parks –  At the end of last year Disney World began offering special express entrance gates reserved solely for Annual Passholders.  The entrances can be found at Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom, and Epcot.  So if you’re the proud owner of an Annual Pass and heading to the park in the weeks or months head, there’s no need to wait with the heaving masses. Passholders must still go through the main security checkpoints.  However, after you’ve gone through security look for the red signs with the Mickey Mouse Annual Pass logo (like the one picture above) which will lead you to your special entry point.
