Q: When are the new Avatar and Star Wars themed lands expected to open at Disney?
This has been a very busy week when it comes to Disney news with two of the biggest news bites being the release of opening dates for both Animal Kingdom’s Pandora: The World of Avatar as well as the Star Wars Lands at both Hollywood Studios and Disneyland in California. Here’s what we know so far.
Pandora – The World of Avatar:
May 27, 2017 is that date that lovers of the James Cameron masterpiece have been waiting fo. Pandora – The World of Avatar , which will open on this date, is designed to magically transport guests to the spectacular world of the Na’vi where visitors will find floating mountains and bio luminescent plants. There are two main attractions that will open in this new land at Animal Kingdom: The first is the Na’ve River Journey where guests will board boats that will send them on a journey down a sacred river that is hidden within a bio luminescent rain forest. Here they will have an encounter with a Na’vi Shaman, a figure who is reported to have a deep connection with the life-force in Pandora. The second attraction will be Avatar: Flight of Passage where visitors climb aboard their very own Banshees for a dramatic aerial adventure over the world of Pandora.
In addition to these two attractions, Pandora will also feature two dining options including the Satu’li Canteen which will serve as the area’s primary eatery and will be modeled after a Na’vi Marketplace as well as Pongu Pongu which is expected to offer an eclectic range of beverages.

Star Wars Land:
Disney announced this week that Star Wars Lands at both Hollywood Studios and Disneyland theme parks will be opening in 2019. The construction of the Star Wars areas at both theme parks will mark the largest ever, single-themed land expansions at both parks and promises to transport visitors to a never-before-seen planet which serves a remote trading port and one of the last stops before wild space. This atmosphere will provide the perfect environment for Star Wars characters to come to life. Though details about the attractions that will be included in these new lands remain “hush-hush” we do know that visitors will have an opportunity to get behind the wheel of the legendary Millennium Falcon as well as encounter a strange cast of character at a Cantina-inspired eatery.
