10 Reasons We Love Disney Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line is amazing! Almost everyone that I have talked to that has cruised with Disney never wants to sail with any other cruise line again – it is just that amazing. A few months ago my family and I sailed aboard the Disney Wonder to Alaska and we’re anxiously awaiting a cruise to the Bahamas in February! Yes, two cruises in one year. Let’s talk about why everyone that sails with Disney loves the Disney Cruise Line.

These are in no particular order…

Magic – Disney Cruise Line provides all of the Magic of a Disney vacation, but AT SEA! The moment that you see your Disney ship, even before you board, you can feel the magic. Boarding the ship is magical, too. As you walk onto the ship your family is announced to everyone already on board. As you explore the ship you’ll find little Disney touches like a Mickey hand above the elevators or Mickey’s all over your stateroom. All seven nights that we were aboard our cruise I felt the Magic just like at one of the Disney parks.

Service – This seems to be the main reason that people keep coming back to cruise with Disney. Disney is known for their level of service and they do not scrimp just because they aren’t on land. Every cast member that you encounter is cheerful and helpful. Each day your stateroom is cleaned, and each night you will return to a room where the bed has been turned down and information for the next as well as a towel animal are waiting for you. In the dining rooms you will be greeted by your servers by name. If you order meat, be sure to quickly take a picture, because your server will cut your meat for you! That’s right, not only do you not have to cut your child’s meat, but you don’t have to cut your own either. At least 25 cast members outside of our service team knew my son by name. Disney provides service that is truly above and beyond!

All That’s Included – What’s included is another reason to love DCL. There are some out there that wish that they could cruise with Disney, but think better of it when they see the price tag. However, it is SO worth it because of all that is included. You can eat and drink as much as you want! Quick service food on the pool deck, room service (with some exclusions), main dining (as much as you want), buffets, and self-serve ice cream and drinks that include soft drinks, water, hot chocolate, coffee, and tea are all included in the cruise fare. My favorite thing is trying more than one entrée at dinner!

Food – Disney is also known for its food and the cuisine aboard the Disney Cruise Line ships does not disappoint! As mentioned above, there are so many choices. Each of the four ships has quick service dining locations, a buffet, room service, snacks outside of the theaters, three main dining locations, and at least one signature restaurant. Disney Cruise Line makes it so that you can enjoy each main dining location with rotational dining! You and your servers will rotate between restaurants each night so that you can try all that there is so be enjoyed. Room service is also great and is available 24 hours a day! I recommend the cake of the day and cookies and milk. Lastly, for those 18 and older, you can enjoy a signature meal with a great view for a minimal extra cost.

Characters – The ability to meet your favorite Disney characters is one of the things that many people love about the Disney parks. You can meet your favorite characters aboard the DCL ships as well! Characters can be found all over the ships, and the wait times are never very long. The characters that can be found, as well as where they can be found and well will be listed on the daily Navigator as well as on the boards in the atrium lobby. Be sure to bring your autograph books and your camera!

Itineraries – Disney Cruise Line goes to some amazing places and for varying lengths of time. You can set sail for anywhere between 3 and 14 days. Destinations include Alaska, the Bahamas, the California Coast, The Canadian Coast, the Caribbean, Europe, and the Panama Canal. Along the way there are amazing ports of call to explore!

Castaway Cay – One of the amazing ports of call is Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay. Those sailing on Bahamian and Caribbean itineraries will visit this sunny island for even more magic. The island offers beaches, shopping, dining, a 5K trail, a post office, and adult only locations. The dining locations on Castaway Cay are included in your cruise fare. And, if you mail a post card from the island post office it will arrive to its destination with a Castaway Cay postmark!

Holiday Sailings – If you’re looking for something extra special Disney Cruise Line has special holiday sailings! Halloween on the High Seas brings all the fun of Halloween. Very Merrytime Cruises include a tree lighting, Christmas time Disney characters, Santa Claus, and more. The DCL ships also get decked out for Thanksgiving and New Year’s.

Kids and Adults Only Areas – The Disney Cruise Line ships have something for everything, and that includes areas that are just for kids as well as those that are just for adults. There are kids clubs for every age group, ages 3-17, that will keep your kid’s happy for the entirety of your cruise. From what I’ve heard, many kids would rather hang out at the kid’s clubs than with their parents! That’s okay, that give you the chance to have some adult alone time. From signature dining to nightclubs to an adults only pool and café the Disney ships have it all. There is also a nursery aboard each of the four ships for those that aren’t old enough to attend the kid’s clubs yet. The nurseries are available for an extra fee, but are so worth it.

Shows – Lastly, Disney is known for their performances and Broadway style shows take the stage on each of the four ships! Be sure to make your way to the theater to take in the show of the night. Don’t worry if your little ones are too tired or can’t sit still during the show – you can watch the show on your stateroom TV so you don’t have to miss a thing.

Disney Cruise Line has it all! I can’t wait for my next cruise!
