For those lucky enough to be staying at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort – French Quarter, definitely set aside some time to enjoy what many consider to be one of the hidden gems of Walt Disney World – the Southern-style jazz lounge called the Scat Cat’s Club. This popular watering hole and eatery serves up specialty cocktails, wine, draft beer, and an impressive list of mouth-watering appetizers. As a matter of fact the restaurant has recently updated its menu of light bites. We think you’ll be as excited as we are about the new tasty morsels on offer. To whet your appetite here is a list of 5 of our favorites.
1. Chicken and Waffles – We are positive you’ll love this unique twist on the classic Chicken and Waffles dish. These bite-sized treats are the perfect mix of savory and sweet. The dish comes with Cajun chicken bites sitting atop waffle crisps and drizzled with buttermilk ranch and candied bacon. They pair perfectly with one of the draft beers on offer.
2. Mardi Gras Mac and Cheese – For those in the mood for some comfort food, we’ve got just the ticket. This offering draws its inspiration from the Big Easy and includes Gulf shrimp, andouille sausage, a wonderful cheddar cheese sauce and cornbread crumbles. Disney recommends that you pair it with the Ramos Fizz- a gin based cocktail that also includes fresh lemon and lime juices, half and half, orange flower water, soda water and agave nectar.
3. Bayou Beef Brisket Sliders – This new dish is sure to be a crowd favorite. It features smoked brisket, tomato jam and pimento cheese. The sliders come with a side of crisp house-made Cajun chips. We think they pair lovely with the classic New Orleans Hurricane cocktail. This tasty libation is made up of dark rum, Puerto Rican rum, tropical juices and a float of bourbon.
4. Crawfish Étouffée –For those looking for a classic Cajun dish, this appetizer is just the ticket. Its is made up of crawfish tails, a spicy shellfish stew and steamed rice.
5. Sassagoula Crab Dip – Speaking of seafood, we round out our list with the Sassagoula Crab Dip. This tasty dish is served with bagel chips and cornichons. Its perfect for sharing!
