On April 7th, 1995, A Goofy Movie was released and 90’s babies have never been the same! This movie really was remarkable because it had a little bit of everything – watching your child grow up, being the child that grows up, falling in love, having an adventure, and of course, becoming obsessed with pop stars. All par for the course, right? All these themes while maintaining the inherent goofiness of… well… Goofy is what really makes this movie work!

Most likely if you’re reading this article, you already know all of this and are just looking for the fun facts! So check out the 5 facts and let us know your favorite in the comments below!

5 Fascinating Facts about 'A Goofy Movie' that All Fans Should Know! 1
  • Mega-Star Influences
    • Powerline is definitely a megastar in his own right, but did you know he was inspired by 3 major pop stars? Director Kevin Lima stated in an interview with /Film that Powerline is actually inspired by “…folks like Prince, Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown…”. Which really explains all the pop power wrapped in one star!
  • Give Him Some Credit!
    • Many of us may recognize the iconic voice of Pauly Shore as Robert “Bobby” Zimuruski. But did you know that he’s actually uncredited in the film? Apparently, he didn’t want Disney to use his name to promote his film as they did with Robin Williams in Aladdin! He actually improvised many of his lines as well! But don’t worry Pauly – you’ll always be known for your ‘leaning tower of cheeza’!
  • A Final Goodbye
    • Disney diehards may know the name ‘Pat Buttram’ who voiced many roles for Disney such as Napoleon in The Aristocats and Cheif in The Fox and the Hound. A Goofy Movie would be the last film that he would end up lending his voice to. He passed in January of 1994. If you have time, check out his IMDB and check out how important he was in film and tv history!
  • Easter Eggs
    • This film is filled with plenty of Easter Eggs – and not all of them are Goofy-related! In Goofy’s studio, you can see plushes that resemble Simba and Bambi! There are also some hidden Mickeys, so keep your eyes peeled – especially in the auditorium scene. Mrs. Potts might also make an appearance as well! How many can you find?
  • Binx? Is that You?
    • Jason Marsden has a long career of voicing important characters and acting in films and TV alike, but did you know that the same voice that played Max in The Goofy Movie also voiced the role of Thackery Binx in Hocus Pocus?? Talk about being an essential 90’s staple! You may also recognize him from Boy Meets World – but I could go on!
