DAZZLING CHARACTERS AND FLOATS
This parade features beloved Disney characters and 8 floats representing more than a dozen stories straight out of Fantasyland!
Festival of Fantasy Parade debuted back in 2014 at Magic Kingdom Park with characters from classic stories like Peter Pan, Cinderella, The Little Mermaid and newer ones like Tangled and Frozen. And if you pay close attention to the details you will find several characters in animated and sculpted form.
FAMILIAR FLOATS
A fun fact about this parade is that it features two floats from Tokyo Disneyland’s Jubilation parade! The princess garden float with Belle, Cinderella, Tiana, Anna and Elsa, as well as, the Mickey’s Airship that was designed to match the aesthetic of the Jubilation floats and the Fantasyland Storybook Circus theme.
A FIRE BREATHING DRAGON
For sure a statement piece of the Festival of Fantasy Parade is for sure Maleficent dragon! Michael Curry, a Tony Award winning production designer explained “We don’t think of her as a parade float, we think of her as a creature.”
The dragon is 52 foot long and represents a first for Disney as it was the first to utilize a bending chassis base allowing Maleficent to literally strut down the parade route.
ORIGINAL MUSIC
Did you know the parade features an original song and score by Mark Hammond? He also worked in the music for World of Color and Disney California Adventure, Flight of Fantasy at Hong Kong Disneyland and most recently Harmonious at Epcot!
INCREDIBLE OUTFITS
All the beautiful outfits you see during the parade were designed by Mirena Rada. These costumes include the ruffians from Tangled whose garments utilize more than 28 separate fabrics!
The seashell girl from The Little Mermaid unit requires 30 yards of fabric per costume and 12 different colors of mesh. Finally, the costumes in this parade were crafted in 10 different shops in 8 cities across two countries. Cool right?
So now when you see the Festival of Fantasy Parade again you can surprise your friends with these fun facts!
