When most people think of a Disney Vacation, they likely immediately think about visiting the theme parks. Don’t get me wrong the theme parks are amazing and are a huge part of a Disney vacation, but there are also plenty of things to do when you are not at the parks. Whether you are taking a day to rest in between park days, or are looking for something to do after you’ve returned from a long day at the parks, there are so many things to do at Disney World!

Have a Pool Day at your Resort

This is probably one of the most popular activities for guests who are taking a break from the parks. The Florida sun can be brutal, and a nice cool dip in one of Disney’s beautiful resort pools is beyond refreshing. Many Disney pool areas also have outdoor lounges that serve up snacks, small menu items, delicious drinks, and cocktails. Some resorts even have splash pads or water slides! Visit Disney Springs

Another very popular non-park activity is to visit Disney Springs. Disney Springs is a large shopping and dining area located right on Disney property. Guests do not need reservations or tickets to enter Disney Springs (however advanced reservations are highly recommended for many Disney Springs dining locations). All Disney resort hotels offer free bus shuttle to and from Disney Springs, which makes it a very convenient place to visit. There are so many fun shops and unique dining experiences at Disney Springs. There is even an AMC movie theater and a bowling alley!

Explore your Resort

Disney resort hotels are incredible, and offer many amenities! Many guests don’t even realize everything that their resort has to offer. From movie nights, to gift shops to beautiful walking trails, make sure you take time to really explore your resort.

Visit Disney’s Boardwalk Area

One of my favorite things to do at Disney is to visit Disney’s Boardwalk area. Here you will find cute shops, restaurants, and even traditional boardwalk games! The area is based on coastal piers such as Atlantic City and features a quarter-mile promenade of shops, dining, and entertainment. It is even more beautiful lit up at night!

Make Dining Reservations at a Resort You’ve Always Wanted to Visit

Before the Covid pandemic, guests were permitted to “resort hop” and travel around to different resorts just to explore. This was one of many guests’ favorite things to do on non-park days, but now Disney has asked that guests do not enter a resort unless they have a reservation for dining. However, if you have a reservation for dining, you may enter and explore the resort. There are so many amazing dining options found throughout Disney resort hotels. Why not choose to book a meal at a resort you’ve always wanted to check out?

There really are so many things to do at Disney without even stepping foot inside the theme parks!
