Halloween Time is here and that means it’s time to party! This year at Disneyland Resort the Halloween party has switched over to Disney California Adventure Park and is called Oogie Boogie Bash. Guests get to trick or treat around the park, experience special entertainment, ride their favorite attractions, and so much more! Here are my top 5 reasons to party with your friends and family at Oogie Boogie Bash:
Character Photo Ops
Halloween is a great time to see special/rare characters at the Disney theme parks. During Oogie Boogie Bash there are even more opportunities to meet and get photos with those characters. Some of the more rare characters my family and I saw were Pinnochio & the Blue Fairy, Prince John & the Sherrif of Nottingham from Robin Hood, and Shan Yu from Mulan.
World of Color-Villainous
Disney California Adventure has a nighttime spectacular called World Of Color. It’s a fantastic water projection show and there is a new version just for Oogie Boogie Bash! The villainous side of Disney characters is brought to life through fountains, lights, lasers, projections and special effects. World of Color-Villainous is a twisted tale carries a young girl named Shelley Marie on an unforgettable journey through devious encounters with The Queen, Ursula, Dr. Facilier, Hades, Jafar, Maleficent and more.
Frightfully Fun Parade
Just as there is a special World of Color show for Oogie Boogie Bash, there is also a special nighttime parade! Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse, dressed in colorful Halloween costumes, lead the way in this spectacle of spooky spirits, all in fun and not-so-scary. They are followed by characters from Tim Burton’s Nightmare Before Christmas, Hitchhiking Ghosts from Haunted Mansion, and a plethora of other Disney villains. You also won’t want to miss the pre-parade! The eerie Headless Horseman of Sleepy Hollow carries a flickering jack-o-lantern in his gloved hand as he rides ahead of the parade.
Treats
The best part about Halloween is trick or treating and getting all the candy right? During Oogie Boogie Bash there are at least 10 different Treat Trails where guests can load their bags up with candy and other snacks. Cast members are not stingy either! Our family didn’t even go to every Treat Trail and we ended up with about 20 pounds of candy. Tip: bring a backpack or other bag with you as the trick or treat bags Disney gives out aren’t very big and they fill up fast. We even saw some villains along some of the Treat Trails which really added to the fun of trick or treating in the park.
Villains Grove
The Redwood Creek Challenge Trail becomes Villains Grove during Oogie Boogie Bash. It’s a spooktacular walk-through experience that is not to be missed! The Villains have taken root here, turning the forest into a magical grove of light and sound with mystical sights and sounds. This awe-inspiring adventure begins the moment you cross through the arched entrance, into a place where twisting vines and roots have been enchanted by the Villains. Make your way through the bewitching mist and fog—to discover unearthly possibilities on your journey. Definitely slow down and take your time so you don’t miss a thing in Villains Grove!
Bonus: shorter lines for rides
Here’s a bonus reason for attending Oogie Boogie Bash: shorter lines for rides! Party guests can enter the park 3 hours before the party starts. Once the party starts, there will be fewer guests in the park. Add that to the other experiences available to party guests, and that means shorter wait times for the rides! We walked right on to Radiator Springs Racers and had a very short wait for Guardians of the Galaxy-Monsters After Dark.
Oogie Boogie Bash is a fun-filled Halloween party packed with special experiences for the whole family! I strongly recommend arriving as early as you can (3 hours before) so you can get the most out of it. Also, dressing up in costume for the event adds to the fun! Have you gone to a Disney Halloween party before? Oogie Boogie Bash is sold out for 2019 but there are plenty of other spooktacular Halloween Time experiences happening at Disneyland!
