While visiting Walt Disney World, it’s easy to make some rookie mistakes while navigating the parks, especially if it’s your first visit. Check out these 5 rookie mistakes to avoid at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Thinking Disney’s Hollywood Studios can be Skipped or is only a “Half Day Park”
Admittedly, I have actually made this mistake. I used to go long enough to take my kids to breakfast at Hollywood & Vine, see a few characters, watch one of the shows and then head out for the day. That works for some families and that’s great! However, Disney’s Hollywood Studios has changed a lot and there are more changes coming! I would no longer consider this park to be a “half-day park”.
Between the great shows for all ages, Toy Story Land and soon, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, there is something for everyone. That doesn’t even include the must-do attractions on Hollywood Boulevard or Fantasmic!
Forgetting about the Character Meet and Greets
There are some characters at Disney’s Hollywood Studios that cannot be found anywhere else at Walt Disney World! Let’s start with everyone’s favorite snowman – Olaf! If you have a little one that loves Disney Junior, this is the place to be! Then, there are characters for the Star Wars fans! While not all the details have been released about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, you will want to stop by Star Wars Launch Bay to meet a few popular friends and foes! There are even some friends from Monsters, Inc., the Incredibles and Toy Story waiting to meet you in different places throughout the park.
Then, of course, there are the classic characters including Sorcerer Mickey and Minnie Mouse who is ready for the Red Carpet, dressed to impress in her beautiful pink gown! Don’t forget about everyone’s favorite chipmunks Chip & Dale or Donald and Daisy Duck.
Not Seeing All of the Shows
There are some wonderful shows at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! Whether you are a Star Wars fan and looking to see the March of the First Order or a Frozen fanatic looking to sing along, you will not want to miss any of it! There is even a dance party for the youngest Disney fans featuring favorite characters from Disney Junior!
Not Seeing the Nighttime Shows
Disney’s Hollywood Studios offers two nighttime shows – Fantasmic! and Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular. Both are phenomenal shows and both are very popular! Fantasmic! is a classic show, shown at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland, in slightly different forms. It’s a great way to see characters that you typically wouldn’t see and there are even Disney Villains appearing throughout this show!
Not Exploring the Dining Options
There are some great dining options throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios. If you go in blind, you are sure to miss all that this park has to offer! Whether you are looking for a character meal, a signature dining experience, or some delicious quick options, you are sure to find it! Not to mention, there are so many exciting new options in the works with Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge opening soon and a Toy Story restaurant in the works!
A visit to Walt Disney World is always a learning experience, whether it’s your 1st visit or not! I find that I learn something new almost every trip! However, by knowing these 5 rookie mistakes to avoid at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, you may be one step closer to being a Disney pro!
