The Fantasmic Dessert Party: Are the Parites Worth It?

There is so much going on at Disney, sometimes it is hard to choose what one to do or even what is available!  I recently decided to try out the Fantasmic Dessert Party in Hollywood Studios and am here to tell you all about it!

The Fantasmic Dessert Party: Are the Parites Worth It?

I really wasn’t sure if I wanted to try this type of package because I am a super picky eater!  Would the dessert parties be worth it?  Would I get anything I like to eat in the package?  Since I was so “on the fence” I decided to try the Fantasmic Dessert Party for two reasons.  One, I absolutely love this classic show! I thought at least I know I will get a good show out of it, even if I don’t care for the food.  Two, it was the cheapest dessert package available at only $39 per adult and $19 per child.

The day of the show has arrived, and the hype of this package is running through my body!  We arrived an hour early to the entrance by Beauty and the Beast live on Stage.  With the dining package you can enter through the fastpass line.  Once you reach the magic band scanning area you will spot a sign all the way to the left indicating to enter here if you have the Fantasmic Dessert Package.  The nice cast member will then check you in giving you the appropriate colored lanyard for an adult or child.  The lanyard is simple, but we loved that the disc at the bottom lights up and it made for a fun souvenir!

We continued up the path to grab our snacks and drinks.  We were handed a bag that contained our snack packages, a small water, and plasticware.  We were surprised at the size of our bag they handed us!  We eagerly wanted to take a peak but had to wait because we were quickly ushered to the drinks.  In front of us were sodas in a tub, a blue alcoholic drink in souvenir cup and a red non-alcoholic drink in a souvenir cup.  We asked if we could have a soda and a souvenir cup and the cast members gladly agreed, thank goodness!

Once we had our hands completely full at this point, we then followed the signs to the VIP seating area.  We quickly learned this area was a big roped off section in the middle of the theater that was sectioned off for the Dessert Package, Dining packages and fastpass guests.  It was a huge area with no bad seat.

As one of the first few people in the theater we headed straight to the bottom for a close view to take pictures.  We chose our seat three rows up.

Protip: If you have never been there are a few rules you MUST know ahead of time!  One: Whatever you don’t walk over the benches.  Walk around to the bench you want.  The swarm of cast members that come after you if you step over the bench is as like bodyguards swarming in to protect a celebrity.  Seriously, it’s intense.  Just don’t do it.  Two: This is also a MUST.  Whatever you do, don’t sit in the middle of the bench if there is no one to the left of you.  The CM’s take this very seriously.  During our hour wait we lost count the amount of times they yelled at someone to move down all the way to the left to make room for others.  Three:  If a cast member is asking you to do something please don’t argue with them.  I know we are all hot and tired, but seriously, they still have a job to do by adhering to their policies for the safety of all guests.  Just be respectful!

Now let’s get back to it.  With an hour wait we were thinking it was going to be a long wait, but we were wrong.  Now that we were settled, we finally took out the dessert box.  Holy cow, y’all!  Look at all of the treats!  Honestly, I could have shared and been perfectly happy.

Your bag comes with a menu showcasing the treats inside your box.  I’m not sure if they are the same all the time.  Our box came with classic treats such as cheese and crackers and chocolate covered strawberries.

The chocolate mousse with crispy pearls and white chocolate coin was ok for me.  I liked the white chocolate coin, but I am not a fan of the dark chocolate mousse.  My friend, however, thought it was really good.

The Evil Queen’s Apple Cake was really good!  It was a little dry, so it crumbled a lot, but overall the flavor was really good!  I would definitely eat this again.  The chocolate chip cookie brownie was along the same lines, a little dry, but the flavor was good!  I could only eat half of it because it was really sweet.

My favorite treat was Ursula’s Cheesecake topped with Strawberry Pearls.  I am not a fan of those Boba balls, so I took these off, but the cheesecake was seriously amazing.  I could have eaten 4 of these!

The souvenir drinks at the Fantasmic Dessert Party were not good at all.  I chose the red non-alcoholic drink and my friend chose the alcoholic drink.  We both felt as if these drinks were very watered down.  It was actually bizarre because we got a big hit of one flavor with a watered-down taste.  Neither one of us finished those and were very grateful for the soda.  Next time I will ask if I can just have the light up cup and a soda.

Overall, we really enjoyed this experience!  I highly recommend this experience!  Now to decide which package to try next!  Walt Disney World offers quite a few dessert packages to choose from, including the Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party also located at Hollywood Studios which features a dessert party and a VIP firework viewing area.

Over at Animal Kingdom Park, guests can take part in the Rivers of Light-We Are One Dessert Party.  This dessert party is similar to the Fantasmic Dessert Party, except you enjoy your dessert before you are escorted to the VIP viewing areas.

Magic Kingdom currently offers two firework viewing dessert parties; Fireworks Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace or with Plaza Garden Viewing.  In addition, Magic Kingdom will be offering a new After Hours Dessert Party starting May 28, 2019!  Guests will have a special VIP viewing area in the Plaza Garden during the Happily Ever After Fireworks.  Once the fireworks are complete, guests will be escorted to the Tomorrowland Terrance to enjoy a newly enhanced menu with savory sweets and treats!

Tell us in the comments if you have ever enjoyed a dessert party.  Which one?  What were the pros and cons?!
