The Downtown Disney District at Disneyland Resort will be continuing it’s promenade-wide transformation this year. Along with these exciting plans comes brand new eateries and retailers as well as a few major refurbishments. To give you a sneak peek of some of the updates you’ll notice in the year ahead, here’s our list of 6 noteworthy changes to be on the lookout for.
1. Ballast Point – (pictured above) This much-loved craft brewer has announced that they will be opening their first Orange County location in Downtown Disney this year. This exciting new watering hole wills specialize in pairing award-winning beers with Southern California cuisine including flatbread, small plates and salads. Menu items will showcase local, sustainable and seasonal ingredients. In addition to Ballast Point’s iconic brews, the location will also serve limited edition beers only available at the Downtown Disney location. In addition, the space will also feature the first-ever on-site brewery, a tasting room, kitchen and outdoor beer garden. For more information on Ballast Point check out their official website.
2. Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer – Milkshake lovers rejoice as the home of the CrazyShake™ is coming to Downtown Disney. Guests will also be able to tuck in to award-winning burgers in a casual atmosphere reminiscent of a modern luncheonette in the heart of New York City.
3. World of Disney Re-Imagined – This incredible shop filled to the rafters with every Disney-themed goodie imaginable will go through a refurbishment this year. The project will create a new dynamic and distinctly Disney retail environment. But no need to worry, World of Disney will be carrying out the work in phases throughout the year with only certain sections of the store being closed at a time.
4. Disney Home – For those looking to bring a bit of that Disney magic home with you, this new retail outlet will offer fans a variety of Disney-themed home goods. The shop will host a curated assortment of products that change with each season. Be on the lookout for its grand opening this February in the former D-Street location.
5. Splitsville Luxury Lanes – Now Open! Those looking for a fine night out away from the theme parks will love Splitsville. A dynamic recreation destination, the venue offers a unique combination of dining, drinks, entertainment and of course bowling. The location also features 20 bowling lanes over two floors, four dining areas and more than 25 flat screen TVs. Splitsville also offers an eclectic menu including hand-tossed pizzas, gourmet burgers and chef specialities like grilled avocado with ahi tuna and filet sliders.
6. Naples Ristorante e Pizzeria Renovations – This much-loved Italian eatery will be undergoing renovations this year. Changes include expanding the outdoor patio area to include a new outside bar as well as additional seating for al fresco dining. In addition, three wood-burning ovens will be installed. The restaurant will remain open throughout the construction which is expected to be completed this Fall.
Guests should also note that construction on a brand new Disneyland four-diamond hotel is expected to start this year and run through until 2021. It is expected that this will result in the closure or relocation of several Downtown Disney business. To find out more check out this article.
