6 Fun Facts About Animal Kingdom’s New Show UP! A Great Bird Adventure

As part of the 20th Anniversary celebrations kicking off at Animal Kingdom this weekend, Disney will debut it’s newest production UP! A Great Bird Adventure on Aprill 22nd.  This 25-minute show follows everyone’s favorite Senior Wilderness Explorer Russell and his furry pal Dug from the  Disney•Pixar’s animated hit film UP as they join bird experts and come face to face with some pretty interesting feathered friends.  We here at Disney Addicts are so excited about this new offering that we thought we’d share 6 Wild Facts about this fun 25-minute show!

1. Get a Close Up Look at Birds from Around the Globe – Led by Animal Kingdom’s avian experts, this new show features a look at bird species from South America, India, Africa, North American and other locations around the globe.

2. More than 15 Species of Birds are Featured – During this 25-minute offering, guests will get to see 15 species of birds including toucans, parrots, macaws, and African fish eagle which boasts an impressive 7-foot wingspan!

3. See Russell and Dug for Up for the First Time Onstage – Prior to A Great Bird Adventure, Russell and Dug were only available for meet and greets at Animal Kingdom.  This marks the first time fans will get to see them live on stage making it the perfect treat for Up! lovers!

4. An Impressive New Score was Created Especially for the Production – This adventure is set to an awesome Indian musical score which offers more than a tip-of-the-hat to the original soundtrack from the film.

5. 20 Animal Trainers Where Used To Develop the Show – Its a massive feat that only Disney could accomplish.  Twenty animal trainers were involved in the training and rehearsal that helped bring this incredible offering to the stage.  Four trainers are also on hand to work with the birds and the actors during each performance.

6. The Show is Intended to Inspire Animal Kingdom Visitors – The goal of the production team when creating UP! A Great Bird Adventure was not only to showcase much-loved Disney characters but to show the amazing natural behavior of the birds with the hopes that it will inspire guests to embark on their own adventures with nature!

Visitors to Animal Kingdom theme park in the weeks ahead will want to be sure to consult the times guide for a list of performances times for UP! A Great Bird Adventure.
