We here at Disney Addicts firmly believe that no child is “too small” to have a magical Disney experience. However, for those opting to visit the Mouse with infants, special considerations need to be taken when it comes to planning out your Disney days. To help you make the most of your days at the parks here are 6 tips for navigating Walt Disney World with babies.
Take Advantage of Baby Care Centers – Each of the four Disney parks has a Baby Care Center. They are fabulous! They have multiple changing tables, rocking chairs, high chairs, nursing/pumping rooms, microwaves, bottle warmers and an area for other family members to enjoy the air conditioning and watch cartoons. If you need to store food or milk, they can do that for you. They also have several baby items available for purchase if you accidentally left your essentials back at the resort.
Use the My Disney Experience App – The My Disney Experience App is an amazing tool, so use it to your advantage. If your little one is sleeping, move your FastPass to a later time. Check wait times so you aren’t waiting in long lines while your little one gets antsy. Use the maps to locate baby changing stations or places to take a break. The My Disney Experience app is also constantly adding new features. Here are five recent additions to simplify your life that you may not have known about.
Pack Snacks – You are allowed to bring snacks and small coolers into the Disney Parks. Simply notify the security guard at the security checkpoint. They will search your bags and cooler and send you on your merry way. This way you don’t have to find a restaurant or food cart every time your little one gets hungry. This also comes in handy for the adults who need energy boosts throughout the day. For more information about food and drink into the park check out this article.
Get Water Whenever Possible – All Quick-Service locations and most snack kiosks will give you a cup of water for free. Table Service restaurants also have water coolers available near waiting areas available to all theme park guests. Refill sippy cups with cool water whenever possible and offer your little one a drink more often than usual. Staying cool and hydrated will make everyone feel better.
Take Advantage of Rider Switch – This is a cool perk that allows families with infants to still enjoy some of their favorite thrill rides. Under the system, one parent rides the attraction while the other parent waits in the wings with the small children. Once the first parent has ridden, the second parent can then jump to the front of the line and enjoy the ride while the first parent waits with the kids For more information on how rider switch works, check out this article.
Take Advantage of Slow Moving Rides, Dark Rides, and Theater Shows – Often times little ones will fall asleep while you’re on the go. Use your My Disney Experience App to rearrange FastPasses or find a place to escape the heat. Theater shows and slow or dark rides are a great way to cool off, rest your feet, and let your little one sleep.
